To think my mothers comment was uncalled for?

I've had an appointment at the hospital today to talk about fertility and the fact that despite 8 years of trying to get pregnant, it hasn't happened due to health conditions.

I rang my mother afterwards to give her an update and started crying when I was telling her I cried in the appointment. She said, 'oh she's at it again'. I feel really offended at her insensitivity and fucked off if I'm honest. Aibu and sensitive?

That’s awful 😞

F**k your Mum, she sound horrific and I’d be cutting contact completely

Its really awful when you need some 'mothering' and do not have the appropriate mother to do so! I am in the same position so you have my sympathy. I hope you're able to overcome your fertility issues!

Crumbs she sounds dreadful. It’s not you it’s her.

What a horrible thing to say.

I took 4 years to get pregnant and I remember my mum saying "build a good relationship with your nephews as that's prob the only kids that are going to be in this family" .... thanks mum.

Yep your mother is awful OP but you've posted about her a few times (holiday, Christmas, pet care) before so this should come as no surprise. She always puts her partners and his family above you, doesn't give a fig about you and suits herself first and foremost. Stop expecting better from her because you won't get it.

I recall a previous thread about your mother (the caravan holiday)

I am sorry but you do know that she is never going to put you or your feelings first. She sounds absolutely awful. 💐

Stop calling the nasty woman.
Horrible comment from a Horrible woman who has form.
Tell her nothing going forward.

Chilly80 · 13/10/2026 18:12

She sounds awful. Does she bring any positives into your life? If not cut her out of it.

If is this is something you constantly talk about and it becomes your whole personality she has a point, we only know your version of this

People will automatically assume she is at fault, and no i am not saying she is or isn't i dont just go along with it automatically

I barely talk about it and don't cry openly about it usually.

That is so awful OP. You actually brought tears to my eyes remembering some of the awful things my own mother said to me. Including telling me six months after my three week old baby son died that I " should be over that by now"
Please OP have as little contact with your mother as possible. I hope you have a supportive DH / DP and good friends you can rely on instead.
Best wishes to you.

Oh that's awful. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing ok as can be.
