What to serve at teen party?

I was stupid enough to let my DD invite lots of friends (50!) to our house for the Halloween party.
What food to serve? DD says not to worry, as apparently ‘nobody eats at parties’. Just some crisps, dips, crackers and sweets were offered at the many parties she went to over last year.
Everyone is over 16yo, some alcohol will be allowed (not served by me, but teens will bring their own). I and DD’s dad will be home. Party is between 7-10:30pm.
Is there really no nibbles expected these days at parties?

Fill a large slow cooker with hot dogs, and add a pile of hot dog rolls, crispy onions and sauces. Crisps, sweets. I think you are completely insane though.

In my experience though you have to say 10;30 as it will often be half an hour to a hour later they finally all leave by. Always lots of goodbyes by the girls, peoples parents running later or waiting on ubers. If you say it finishes at 11 you’re looking at midnight by time last ones leave when it’s a party of 50.

Have the “they’ll have already had their dinner” crowd ever met a teenage boy?! I have never yet known one not to demolish a slice of pizza at any time of day or night.

Ignore all the competitively cool parents with their references to party teas and handing out fizzy drinks, OP - it’s very sensible to have some stodgy food and loads of non-alcoholic drink options around. Good idea to have a few of your own friends over - should make the night more bearable!

You’ll have to double that number
house parties are never the exact number

Teens drinking won’t want food. Eatings cheating as they say.

I have a feeling that this isn’t going to go well and your daughter is going to dread going back to school after the weekend. 16 and 17 year olds won’t arrive at 7pm and they’ll only be getting in to the swing of things by 10pm.
Half hour later… turfed out.

How big is your home?

DD had around 50 over for her 16th. Apparently it was a “gathering” not a party because it was less than 100 🙄.

I thought long and hard about the alcohol thing and decided I would provide it as at least then I could control what was drank to a certain extent. So I bought that chicken wine all the girls seem to love and beers for the boys. No one brought their own booze as they didn’t need to so I didn’t need to worry about vodka or tequila being smuggled in. They all consumed far less than I thought they would (and certainly less than me and my friends would have at their age!). Yes they were all tipsy, and loud! But it was lovely seeing them all having so much fun and being happy dancing in the garden. It was supposed to finish at 11pm but I couldn’t bring myself to break up the fun time they were having so the last ones left at 1:30am.

Don't listen to all the nay sayers, OP. I’m sure everyone will have a great time.

@Franpiewere the girls allowed to drink beer if they preferred?

I think a teen party is likely to end in disaster with that many kids.

😂 of course, I didn’t police what they drank. The boys may have also drank the wine, who knows? I was advised by DD on what drinks to buy based on what the girls and boys have had at previous parties.
