To ask if I really need to prep?

I keep seeing things online about prepping for winter. How serious is it?! Do I need to???

OP you don't need to to do anything if you don't want to. But if you have the space and the budget, it's not a ridiculous idea to have enough food, water, medicine light and heat for a couple of days in case the power or water goes out. Or the roads get blocked by floods/snow/fallen trees etc.
