I am asking as I’m guessing others have had this problem but I am flummoxed as to how to go about solving it.

Toddler Won’t watch tv either so that won’t work

Yes because the way I reply to someone on here obviously is a direct correlation to how I parent - how pathetic! I don’t need to ‘bark’ at my children, they just grow up being shown what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour and they learn how to behave, you nip it in the bud before it gets to the level the OP is describing.

And my username is one of many I use, generally chosen by looking around and choosing a combination of things in my view, ads on the page etc, I’m hardly going to be silly enough to use anything identifying on a public forum.

You don’t have ‘spirited’ children. That’s great, but it doesn’t mean that your parenting advice is universal.

My PDA kid doesn’t give a fuck about ‘acceptable’ or anything being nipped in the bud. In fact, any attempt at correction, or even gentle guidance on really low-tolerance days, results in screaming, violence, or self-harm. And has done since he was a toddler, or smaller even. He used to headbutt the wooden floor and scream over and over if you asked him not to do something, even before he could walk.

I used to have those magnetic letters that stuck to the fridge/freezer door and get my son to spell out words using them when I was cooking dinner etc. It made it a bit more fun for him too.

I think this might have been critical but I genuinely don’t know what you mean.

Thanks all. No other parent around. DC2 gets very destructive sometimes, trying to snatch the pen off dc1, shouting, throwing self at me so I can’t see (or breathe!)

It’s frustrating. Feeling like a crap mum!

They thought you were home schooling / home educating, I don't know why it is clear from your post it is work for school / homework.

Does your toddler go to bed before your schoolchild? Can you wait until they are asleep or is it too late?
