To think I shouldn't be the only one to shut the dog up???

I came upstairs straight from my shift at work to continue working. Now for the last 15 minutes the dog has been barking constantly. I was on an online meeting over video link so couldn't break. It is a horrible bark...really high and screechy. After the 15 minutes I went downstairs and expected to find my mother and her husband out, but no, they were sat in the room next door to the dog the whole time the lazy f*ing freaks. I asked them why they didn't go and shut him up and they just freaking laughed. They are lazy, useless pigs.

Take it you've not found a way to move out then ? Whose dog is it, could you not ahve put your meeting on hold if it bothered you, poor animal .

I agree, sounds like they should have got off thier bums and done it! Maybe they are immune to the annoying sound of a high pitched dog bark. I'm not sure I could leave it to bark that long if I wanted to! It would drive me mad!!

LIZS - why is it a 'poor animal'? It was only barking Confused

LIZS · 30/06/2008 22:03

Presuming it was barking either for attention, hunger or to be let out, none of which it got.

how old is it? why was it barking? has it ever been/is it being trained not to? if it's in the process of being trained not to then ignoring it can be a legitimate tactic.

Hello thanks for replying. The dog is 16 and sometimes just barks for no reason. He has food, water, the back door was open and he had just had attention from me. I don't mind him barking at his age, bless him, but when there are other people closer to go and make him be quiet it really pisses me off. They hadn't done anything all day, just sat on their bottoms watching tv which is fair enough but when I come in from work, the last thing I want to be doing is shit that they should do.

Poor dog?? Poor Lola!

in that case YANBU! 16 year old dogs deserve respect! and you deserve other people at least acknowledging that you're on the phone working - which is hard to do with a dog barking in the background. If I make work calls at home I make a BIG point of telling everyone - they might think I'm being a pain in the arse but a loud and pointed "I'm about to make an important call please don't disturb me" followed by a shut door is better than me getting all ratty while I'm on the phone.

that was meant in a "try this if you haven't already" way. not in a "oh I handle these situations better than you" way.
