AIBU to think they should buy rather than rent a tiny flat?

To think DD and partner are crazy to rent a miniscule 1 bed flat at £1700 pcm, when they have a £50,000 deposit and joint income of around £60,000 to £65,000? No children. I'm sure they could buy a reasonable 2 bed flat fairly comfortably with their mortgage repayments being less than £1700?

It’s interesting that you haven’t replied for a while but picked a sarky (and honestly, pretty funny) post to come back on, rather than any of the posts pointing out that your maths didn’t really work and that there were various reasons around commitment to each other and to a given area why a young couple in London might rent.
