Great that again we agree safe and legal routes is something the UK should explore for women in countries where they are oppressed.

@Switchnow We definitely share language and history with Australia, but the strong push to rejoin the EU proves that proximity, shared European values, and intertwined daily lives create a bond and share a similarity to counties, such as Denmark, are hard to ignore.

Politically and economically, our standards, consumer protections, labour laws, and environmental policies have always mirrored the more European models.

I’m not about to go out and beat up fellow citizens working as police personally, but what about the intimidation and occasionally thuggish behaviour from the governments for 40 years that have pushed mass immigration on us, as well as a destroyed economy? As a pp pointed out a couple of pages ago, anyone working in education or the public services has effectively lost any right to protest over anything, and everyone’s lost any right to protest if it’s done in any way effectively, ie causes disruption. Unless they’re rich farmers of course.

My point is there are many components to affinity and it doesn’t surprise me at all that people want to come to Europe rather than other Muslim countries, many of which experience the same difficulties, iniquities, climate issues or poverty that they’ve come from. And that’s even before you get to apostasy, sectarianism, and all that.
