To drink a whole bottle of champagne myself this evening?

We've had a very good family day out, dcs are in bed. Dh has gone out. I've been tempted by the bottle of champagne we were given to celebrate the birth of the latest baby insider. But I did all the work there didn't I? So really the champagne was for me? Dh probably won't be out that late so he can have a dribble glass if there's any left when he comes home. But there won't be. I plan to drink it all.

AIBU?

For £30 I can get Billecart. Now that is the bee's knees! Especially the salmon one - soooo romantic!

ilovemydog · 28/06/2008 21:05

Thanks for the tip - will raid our cabinets as sure we were given a few bottles (wetting the baby's head?????) when DS was born!

Enjoy - you deserve it!

There is a little corner shop round my way that sells Lanson at £18... Me n a mate cottoned on to it and keep slinking in and buying it up. The owner looks at us gone out - since its not really a champagne appreciating community round these parts!

theinsider · 28/06/2008 21:16

Lanson at £18 sounds pretty good. I do like champagne and people know that now so do give me it quite often. And then ocassionally I buy it too. But I can never remember which ones I like. I work on the principle that I like all champagne and if the first taste isn't quite as good as I hoped then the second, third etc glasses gulps sips are always just fine

I am the same! I'm sure that Moet and bollinger and don perion (sp) and Lanson are all pretty good but once you've had a few... Cava will do!!! And on that note - I'm going to crack open my second bottle of white! It's only 9.20pm! I'm filthy!

theinsider · 28/06/2008 21:20

Go for it!

Hows it going insider? Did you finish the bottle girl?

bonio · 28/06/2008 22:36

only one bottle?

theinsider · 28/06/2008 22:43

Only half a glass left minorbird. Have thoroughly enjoyed it. Dh in now and has stuck to his cans and approved wholeheartedly of my champagne-binge, and agreed to do any night-time work required. What a sweetie.

My only question now is whether to quit while I'm ahead, or, as it's still less than 11pm and dh is doing night-feed should I move onto something else? I do have to take ds1 to two birthday parties tomorrow. The first one is McDonald's though (sshh, don't tell the rest of mumsnet) so I can soothe any hangover with fries etc.

I guess you opened your second bottle - how are you getting on?

Yessss.... I am now well into my 2nd bottle - but just noticed it's only 10% and not the usual 15% as is the bottles from tesco or sainsburys... so I may have been spurred a little...

sounds like you have a heavy day tommoro (like the mcd's food involved though!) Ive got a 10 mile run and a 2 hour drive to london... hmm... didnt think this through did i!!!!

theinsider · 28/06/2008 23:44

A ten-mile run? And then a two hour drive to london? I'm impressed at your commitement to saturday night.

Dh is now asleep on sofa. I moved onto cider and am now aboout to turn into myself. Hope you feel ok tomorrow - fear I won't

Good Moaning! How are you? Someone profound once said we should have 'no regrets in life' - ok so it was Robbie Williams but I think he's right - so I'm trying to hold onto the fact that I had a good night - I think!?! Anywhoo the early morning run has been rescheduled to late morning and the 10 miles have been cut down to 7 (can easily get cut again to 4 if I feel ropey once I get out there!) I've had me bagel and pint of tea plus a few pro-plus for good measure! So far - so good - well my hands have stopped shaking at least! That drive to London is gonna be hell later - must down load some kind of rave/loud music to try and keep me awake!

theinsider · 29/06/2008 10:26

Let's just say I've felt better! Have also felt much worse though, so I think I'll survive. And as you say it's important to enjoy ourselves. Thanks for joining me in my drinkathon try not to fall asleep.
