Physio at home

Hi sorry for posting on AIBU, I will remove once I get a few answers if thats ok. I'm agoraphobic and I'm struggling with pain due to arthritis in most of my body, this started when I was around 13 years old and I'm now 50. I'm waiting for a double knee replacement and I'm supposed to be having an op on my good foot. I'm in the house all of the time as I mentioned and I'm just a fat mess, I am at the point now where I struggle to get up and down the stairs and I can't carry on like this. My GP has said I'm welcome to come to the surgery for physio, I rarely get to speak to the same GP and they don't know my history when they ring. Does anyone know if a physio would come to my home if I paid? I'm not sure if they do that kind of thing but it would have to be a woman and how would I know they are 100% genuinely a trained physio, people can say they are anything these days. I'll remove my post once I have a few answers, I hope thats ok.

@CatsangDogs you can turn off notifications in the settings and you can unwatch the thread but I'm not sure you can turn off comments specifically.

Ask your GP,it's possible the might do a video call instead.

I pay £50 for an hour home visit from a physio so do some research first before being put off by some of the prices quoted here

I lost 4.5 stone and it made bog all difference to my condition,in fact I had more aches and pains. So while it can help ,it doesn't always so I would definitely try and see a physio.

Are you registered as housebound with your GP?

If you are, NHS community physio should visit you at home. Obviously, no charge then.

The NHS will send a physio to you at home. Say you're housebound because you are. I know this because I have a physio that comes to me at home, and a chiropractor and a chronic pain coach (I pay for the chiropractor). Also ask to be referred to occupational health.

A physiotherapist will need to be HCPC registered so you should ask for a copy of their registration number. I would also ask for a copy of their DBS for one coming to your home.

Actually OP, it’s the Health Care Professionals website you need to look for physios that are registered for healthcare.
The CSP is more like a union for physios and provides insurance ( which physios have to pay monthly membership ) but there’s nothing stopping physios from getting their own insurance and not joining the CSP.
