AIBU to want a colleague to stop commenting on my weight?

I was pretty large at one point, around 15 and a half stone and I am only 5’2 so it was pretty noticeable. Went on Mounjaro last August and lost weight rapidly, going from 15 and a half stone at the start of August 25 to 10 and a half by the end of January, all good.

I have always been open at work that it was Mounjaro.

But I have a colleague who won’t stop commenting on my weight. Every time she sees me (I only work two days) she says ‘you’re looking very slim!’ (I’m not, I’m still a bit overweight!) And if she’s asked me once if I’m still taking Mounjaro she’s asked a thousand times.

I know I can think of any number of cutting comments but given I do have to work with this person HOW can I nicely get her to stop? She is quite touchy …

I’ve been doing that for a year and there is no sign of a break from it. Out of interest, what did you think I had been doing?

Theres a way of doing this that can be really friendly!

'Ooh thanks, you've been so sweet but I was just saying to my friend the other day that its getting a bit embarassing talking about it all the time! Let's change the subject - how's xxx?'
Lots of smiles and friendliness and that should hopefully do it.

Just be honest. Say something like ‘I know you’re trying to be kind, but I feel uncomfortable talking about my weight’.

I just acknowledge and change the topic, make it very obvious and assertive without being aggressive.

her: oh you’re looking slim
you: thank you. Have you had an update from
client A about process 2?

her: are you still taking mounjaro
you: yes. Are you attending boring work event next week where we have to pretend the whole day couldn’t have been summed up into a 3-line email?

Don’t engage in conversation about it.

@InfoSecInTheCity that doesn’t work because it doesn’t stop her commenting next time. That is kind of what I’ve been doing - ‘thanks, have you seen Mary? I need to tell her …’ but then the next time I’m in she exclaims ‘goodness you’re looking very slim!’ I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s every time she sees me and I am going to have to tell her I’m finding it embarrassing because I am!

This is genius! Gets the point across but in a totally non-aggresssive way. MachesterGirl2 should be in the diplomatic corps!!

I got this from someone too. I loved the comments while losing weight and then once I was at target, but then I just wanted to be accepted at my new weight like it was normal and just how I am now. Rather than a big deal being made of it. I suppose I wanted to forget I was something else before. And god weight talk is fucking boring!
I lost 9 stone over 7 years ago now and the good news is the comments do stop once you’re at target weight for about a year!
