Mirena Coil or tranexamic acid (AIBU to be hesitant)

Due to have a mirena coil fitted Thursday. I’m so hesitant as I’m scared it will cause me even more pain (adenomyosis) and effect my mood (already suffer anxiety)

The alternative is to just take tranexamic acid every month.

I don’t need contraception, I just need to stop the heavy bleeding (anaemic)

desperate for advice from people who have made the decision themselves as HCPs just want to push the coil

@DownTheJohnhow are you getting on with it?

I have a Mirena due to adenomyosis and anaemia. My periods were so heavy, they were barely manageable. The Mirena stopped the periods straight away. It has been life changing for me.

im currently going through similar.
same diagnosis. I was offered thr coill after trying the acid and I have said no. Im going straight for an endo ablation as I have now had years of managing heavy periods, losing large clots and feeling so rough. We are an active and social family and it was sods law that my heavy days would coincide with special events or camping. I am honestly tempted to tell them to just whip everything out as before this ive had to have surgery for endometriosis and then ended up having ivf. The acid woeked for a month then just prolonged the heavy days, the coil, so many i know have struggled so I hope the ablation does help.

Ironically I have been given a date now but its been 5 weeks since my last period! So will I even end up having it?

I love the Mirena, life changing.

I have adenomyosis and endometriosis. I actually passed out from pain a few times n the first day of my period before the Mirena.
