Myself and friend were supposed to be going to a caravan park this weekend. Caravan park emailed to say due to unforseen circumstances both swimming pools will be closed this weekend. We chose this particular caravan site because it had 2 pools - I don't want to go now and caravan park offering a full refund. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to go out and about finding other things to do and there is no beach nearby. Friend still wants to go - I don;t .She says we can just find pubs to sit in- during the day I don't drink much and I also worry as this means she will have to take her car as we are in the middle of nowhere and she doesn't worry about drinking then driving. If I don;t go I have let my friend now as she is desperate to go. Who has the last say?? I feel guilty but i don't want to go now. We have grown apart since booking it and i worry that now there is no option of going to the pools something we both love she will just want to get drunk and when she said this her response was "hell yeah"

WTF! You are friends with someone that drink drives? Shame on you. Just for that reason cancel. She could kill someone!

Get your refund and go separate ways.

Lucky escape from ‘friend’ with no morals.

I agree with previous poster, you obviously aren't the friends you thought you were when you booked this holiday. Fate has thrown you an opportunity to cancel it, and get your money back. You don't want to go drinking, and you're scared she will drink and drive. So bearing all this in mind, I would just cancel the holiday and get your money back. From the sound of things, you won't even have to let this friendship fade away, as I think in view of the fact that your friend doesn't want to cancel, she is likely to fall out with you anyway.

However, can I ask who actually booked the holiday, and who will actually receive the refund, as my only concern is that if she booked it, and you paid her your share, she might be reluctant to give you your money back, if you go against her wishes? Even if this is likely to be the case, I think I'd still cancel, and accept the lost funds, rather than go on holiday with her when it sounds very unlikely that you will enjoy it now.

Sorry you've found yourself in this position OP, going on holiday with friends can be like walking through a minefield, so think VERY carefully before booking to go away with friends in future.

Who booked it? I’d imagine the lead booker has to agree to the cancellation.

Tell her what you said here — the pools were the whole point of the holiday as far as you were concerned, and, even if you were interested in spending the whole time in pubs, it isn’t going to be possible because they’re not in walking distance of the site.

NuffSaidSam · Yesterday 16:45

Tell her you don't want to go. Clearly. Firmly.

If she really wants to go she may find someone else to take your place.

Stormyrose · Yesterday 16:48

How long can you spend in the pool realistically? If you Just don’t wish to go tell her.

Jeschara · Yesterday 16:48

Just say no. How boring going to the pub just getting drunk. You have grown apart. Get your refund and enjoy spending it.

Sartre · Yesterday 16:52

Get the refund, she can go alone if she really wants.

nomorekitchenislandsplease · Yesterday 16:59

Cancel. You don't want to go, and the deal has changed now the pools are closed.
