my useless cleaner/mother's help has a glass of water when she's here, that I do not mind, not one bit, BUT she leaves the bloody glass with water in on the side in the kitchen
I pay the woman to tidy up fgs, she's reasonably crap at it though.
If you were me would you say something?
I'm getting an aupair soon anyway, but still why can't she just put it in the dishwasher?

Hmm
tab1 · 27/06/2008 20:29

It's not the end of the world is it, I think YABU.

Hassled · 27/06/2008 20:29

I think that in the grand scheme of things, life is just way too short to even start dwelling over a glass of water on the side.

AMumInScotland · 27/06/2008 20:32

On it's own, I'd say it wasn't worth getting bothered by, but I'm assuming it's part of a much larger issue you have with her. Will she be going anyway when you get the au pair?

kittywise · 27/06/2008 20:33

yeah I know. I think if it wasn't for the fact that she is generally so useless I wouldn't mind at all.
I find it ironic that I pay her to tidy up and she creates mess

God

YABU

justhavingamoan · 27/06/2008 20:36

FGS. Is this all you have to moan about. Really.......

ByTheSea · 27/06/2008 20:36

Actually, I don't think YABU. Why can't she just put it in the dishwasher and leave your kitchen tidy.

I get on my DCs' case about this very thing -- I think it's treating me like a maid if they leave their glass/cereal bowl there instead of putting it in the dishwasher when they are perfectly capable.

FrannyandZooey · 27/06/2008 20:37

LOLOL
I am a bit anal about things but this is quite bad kitty
she must just annoy you in all ways for you to get het up about this

BibiThree · 27/06/2008 20:39

I don't think you are being unreasonable, the woman comes to your house to tidy up, you pay her and she leaves a used glass on the side for you to wash and put away. It would annoy me.

kittywise · 27/06/2008 20:39

thankyou bythesea, I think that's what bothers me, exactly

and no JHAM I have plenty of crappy things to moan and worry about, however, I am choosing to moan about something completely unimportant that niggles me nonetheless.

AMumInScotland · 27/06/2008 20:50

It sounds like what is really bothering you is the fact that she's useless, so you're paying good money and not getting what you expected in return.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 27/06/2008 20:52

This would bug me a bit too (if I had a cleaner!), especially if I thought she was doing it on purpose!! It's like having the last word, isn't it?

Divastrop · 27/06/2008 20:53

YANBU

when is she going?

kittywise · 27/06/2008 20:57

September, but I haven't told her yet

Remind me never to employ an English person again.

I cannot begin to list the silly doings but putting damp washing away is one of them, that'll give you an idea.
I've had to label. all of the shelves and drawers and with arrows because she cannot remember where to put the clothes despite being shown umpteem times.

Once a week I have to go through every wardrobe and relocate the clothes. I find mine and dp's underwear in the children's cupboards etc etc.

Don't get me started.

getmeouttahere · 27/06/2008 21:02

Sounds like you are better off without her the stupid, stupid piece of shit!!!!

She has given you 2 months notice?

If I knew her, I would tell her to get the fuck out of your sweatshop house immediately.

cornsilk · 27/06/2008 21:07

I must admit that dh's empty bowl of sugar puffs left on the table in the morning drives me potty. Don't know why - he does plenty round the house, but it gets to me, so YANBU.

Divastrop · 27/06/2008 21:18

she used to be a man i tell you!!

cornsilk · 27/06/2008 21:18

aha that would explain everything!

ChukkyPig · 27/06/2008 21:20

I personally would be a bit disturbed if I found anyone had allocated DH's rather voluminous underpants to DD's knicker drawer.

Failing to appreciate the difference between the pants of a grown man and the smalls of a tiddler is a bit lax.

Unless of course your DH enjoys wearing your knickers and she is trying to hide them from him? Is a bit of a stretch, I know.

ChukkyPig · 27/06/2008 21:21

I meant stretch of imagination, but I suppose, it would also be a stretch of the pants!

kittywise · 27/06/2008 22:55

lol@chukkypig!!

getmeoutofhere, you can employ her, because she IS paid, the going rate, then you might get off whatever strange soapbox you seem to be occupying.

She doesn't empty the hooverbag

I said to her " please can you empty the kitchen bin at the end of your day?"

She does, she takes the bin liner out and leaves it by the bin
sooooooo, next day " please can you tie up the bin liner you have taken out of the bin and take it to the back door?'

And when you walk you need to put one foot on front of the other and continue to do so until you reach you desired destination

FairyMum · 27/06/2008 22:58

You are mad to employ an English person to clean for you in the first place. Eugh.

kittywise · 27/06/2008 23:00

I was desperate. Dp says having her is like running with one leg
She is willing, I think, but she is thick and has no sense of initiative.
