Ovarian ectopic?! Any experience/any gynae drs?

Hello

I’ve no idea how far along I’m meant to be as on the pill, not had periods. DC2 is almost 1 and been taking pill since 6 week check.

Last week, I had a positive pregnancy test (I was nauseous and breasts sore). I’ve been bleeding and due to an extensive history with gynae and fertility issues, I’m sadly well known to the early pregnancy unit.

They scanned me today, nothing found in uterus. Sonographer didn’t mention it when scanning but said I’ll print your report and a nurse will come see you.

She explained I needed a blood hcg done and had to wait there for the result (result 384), my left ovary showed ovulation, a corpus luteum was visualised then WITHIN the ovary is an “inhomogeneous mass total size 13mm x 12mm x 11mm with increased peripheral vascularity”.

She said I “might” be having an ovarian ectopic.

A gynae dr came to see me, said it could be too early, could be a miscarriage, could be an ectopic. They wanted to keep me in for 2 nights but confirmed it would be a watch and wait situation and I’d just be on a gynae ward/no treatment etc just to keep an eye on me. I’ve come home due to having 2 children here.

I have to have repeat bloods done Saturday but now I wish I’d asked so many questions. From what I have read, it is extremely rare to have an ovarian ectopic but I had a laparoscopy done for endo 6 months ago so he said there’s almost no chance it’s anything “sinister” as they’d of seen it then. I’ve been told not to drive or be alone and if I have any sharp sudden pain, collapse or prolonged dizziness to go straight to hospital.

I was in such shock I just didn’t ask any questions and now I’m confused and there’s not a whole lot of info or people’s stories online regarding an ovarian ectopic.

I am actively bleeding.

I wish I’d asked what else the mass could possibly be that they’d seen if it’s not the pregnancy.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks - posted in AIBU for traffic

I’m sorry you’re going through this. If there is any way you can possibly fund it,
I would beg you to go private. Women’s health services are an utter disgrace under nhs. If you can go private, you will be well cared for. (Context- I went without holidays for two years to save up for private oomphrectomy due to BRCA2, a surgery that the NHS repeatedly messed me around for.) totally worth it. Never again with nhs for gyn.
