Pain in leg following anaesthesia - any medics around?

Hello, I had a spinal anaesthesia attempt which had to stop and a GA given due to the electric shock type of pain I was getting in my legs. I'm still getting lots of pain in my leg and can barely move it without lots of pain. Is this normal and will it subside? Surgery was a few hours ago.

Phone the ward/unit.

I had the same issue when they got the spinal in the wrong place for my c section. They got it in the wrong place four times before they got it right and the pain in my legs and side of my back was horrific. Like the most painful waves of pins and needles I’ve ever experienced. I was told it’s nerve pain. I still got it for several months after my c section (still occasionally get it but it’s reduced considerably). Normally when I sat on the toilet or in a certain position on a chair. It is completely debilitating when it happens and I can’t move at all, but luckily only lasts a minute or so.

I'm on the ward now. I'll mention it to a nurse.

Oh gosh so sorry to hear that. My heart goes out to you. It is an awful pain. When I was flinching when the anaesthetist was doing the spinal I'm sure she thought I was soft. The lovely nurse insisted I have the general anaesthetic instead which is what I wanted in the first place. It hurts more than where the actual surgery was!

Oh right….I thought you were at home when you asked if any medics were around, I didn’t realise you were still in hospital!
