Suncream stains all over kids clothes! Had a search back but can't see any recent threads. Please can anyone recommend a stain remover/ technique for getting suncream stains out. Many thanks 😊

I've used the Vanish spray with pretty good results.
Lots of it, give it a really good rub and leave for a while before putting in the machine (not so that it dries out, but a good 15 minutes or so).

Will try this!

Also if you have a soak wash button, I sprayed vanish, left it for a bit then soak washed

The active ingredient in anti dandruff shampoo works but only before it has been washed

I used one of the Dr beckmann stain remover in the little bottles on DDs new white clothes that came out of the wash with yellow marks - I think it was the 'nature' one, it lists suncream on the back. Left them to sit for 3 hrs and then washed on 20 degrees. All came out.

I find them really good, I use the pen one and the sauce one on school uniform constantly and there's very few bits that don't come out.

Fairy liquid rubbed in and left to soak for a few hours. Then wash at 30 and leave in sun it dry.

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHutjyst ordered some, thanks for the tip. My favourite white top has come out with yellow stains on. Last time it happened I tried bleaching it and it went pink. Bizarrely!

I learned this technique on here! It saved a white linen top from terrible yellow sun cream stains. It’s the oil in the sun cream that leaves the stain so you need to get rid of the oil. Washing up liquid is perfect for that. So is white vinegar. I rubbed washing up liquid into the stains on the dry top, then squirted it with white vinegar window spray and left it to soak for an hour or so. Then just washed as normal. Came out sparkling white.

Don't know about getting stains out but start using the amber solaire sensitive spray one. Zero stains at all and I've been using it constantly on my toddler. It's the only one I've used that doesn't stain in any way

Some top tips here, thanks so much everyone!

Sometimes (doesn’t work with all of them) soaking the fabric in hot water with a capful of Ace for Whites can help. Wait til the stains go pink then hang in the sun to dry. Sometimes the stains vanish but sometimes they go back to yellow.

I’ve heard a rust remover can help.

Avoid suncreams with avobenzone in them if you want to leave yellow stains behind completely. This generally means using mineral suncream only.

Our Nivea suncream stains came out by soaking in cold water and bicarbonate of soda over night (before washing) and then washing.
