I did my undergraduate in law and from university went and worked in a one man band criminal law firm. I was his assistant and loved it, but he was very clear that he couldn’t offer me the required work experience due to the nature of his firm.
I left after five years and secured a training contract at a regional firm. I instantly hated it, but stuck it out and studied my SQE, I passed and qualified and promptly handed in my notice because it was absolutely draining me, I was verging on suicidal.
I have been working since in a band 2 NHS role. It’s been the best two years of my life, I’m so much happier, but I can’t help but feel a little stagnant and like I’m starting to waste my life and talents. I’m very academic, I adore studying and learning and applying my brain to difficult things.
I have recently found out about the second undergraduate student loan for upskilling into certain areas. A few really stick out to me and although I accept I’d need to do a lot more research and consideration, I am considering it.
AIBU to do this? I think I’d start with some free OU courses and go from there, before deciding whether I can commit to part time studying alongside work. I’d be in my 30s by the time I finished.
AIBU to consider it?
