To want my own space on holiday?

I didn’t speak to my partner’s parents for 4 years, only in the past 6-12 months have we decided to put the past behind us and be civil etc, which I’m happy with.

My partner has booked a caravan for us to stay in (me, partner, his parents and our kids, and the dog) which I’m going along but the more I think about it the more I would like our own caravan as we would be either in the twin room or sofa bed - and I’d just like my own space for a night in case my IBS flares up/just to have my own ‘proper’ bed and breathing space on an evening. It’s £399 for another caravan which I’m happy to contribute.

DP says it’s just cos I don’t want to spend time with his parents etc, which isn’t the case! I’m just one of those people who needs their own space to decompress on an evening. I’d happily stay with them until midnight or whatever and just part to sleep then see them in the morning. AIBU?

Even with people I really get on with i wouldn't want to share a caravan. I need my own space.

Have you seen the episode of The Royle Family in the Pearl of Prestatyn with Jim on the toilet?

Given the history your dp is risking another serious fall out that could last indefinitely. Why are you even agreeing to a holiday op?? I would insist on two caravans or no holiday. This isn't going to go well.

Given your IBS, you should insist. Save yourself and indeed to an extent them any embarrassment.

Don’t go.
