AIBU to ask my friend to stop vaping at inappropriate times.

We go on holidays together and she’s always surrounded by a cloud of vape smoke. (It’s like she’s just coming through the fucking reveal door on “Stars in their Eyes”

Vaping as soon as she wakes up (in bed) We share a twin room. Plus vaping in the room generally.
Vaping whilst we are dining in restaurants in-between courses.
Vaping just every fucking where and just blowing it into my face.

It stinks. Like sickly smells such as candy floss or bubble gum.

However, your Stars In Their Eyes comment really made me laugh. Perhaps you could constantly shout "Tonight Matthew I'm going to be...Cher/Madonna/Yoko Ono/Kylie/Lady Gaga/Janis Joplin/Amy Winehouse/Adele/Lulu..." every time she starts puffing. Maybe that'll make her realise how annoying it is.

My friend vapes, which I would rather he did than smoke, but he doesn't blow the fumes everywhere. I travelled for an hour with him in his car recently and only knew he was vaping if I happened to glance at him, otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue.

I agree that you and your friend don't sound like ideal travelling companions - her for blowing her vape fumes all over you, and you for your OTT reaction.

There is an attitude among some people that vaping is acceptable everywhere. I see so many people vaping their way round supermarkets, on trains and buses, anywhere really.

It’s absolutely disgusting and I’ve zero time for people with such a lack of courtesy that they think everyone wants to breathe in their revolting fumes.

I think I’d be down at reception and asking for another room at least. And tell your friend way.

It's actually a valid comment and not ridiculous at all. Your friend is clearly inconsiderate, if she is literally vaping in your face all day. Have you asked her to stop?

Vaping should be illegal. OP - just be honest with your friend, tell her gently but firmly that she cannot vape in your home, shared accommodation etc. If she is a good friend and decent human being I am sure she will give a bit back.

I don’t seem to have many vapers in my group. But, when I went to a wedding recently with some old friends, lots do there. We are talking about what you describe. Just incessant use and no regard for vape direction on the exhale. Gross.

It would impact my friendship because it’s so mindless. Not to mention a hugely costly habit that simply robs people of spare income and probably their health.

My point was you are not goung to stop her vaping and even if she does it on the balcony or whatever it will still smell so you either accept it
