AIBU to feel anxious when he will not take no for an answer

I was seeing a guy for about 15 months. The relationship was always a secret, and i put that down to us being from different cultures. I didn't have a problem with the difference in cultures.
A few weeks ago we had a row. I had gone to see him, I had a really bad headache, he asked for sex, I said no as I didnt feel the greatest. Things progressed and I then agreed to it, but then he told me I had to use a certain bathroom incase his friend invited himself into his flat as he had a key. This made me think. If his friend could walk in on me in the bathroom, he could walk in on me in the bedroom, so I said forget it, and we drank coffee. Then he pulls his trousers and boxers down.
I was disgusted, I went off on one, because he clearly didnt respect my answer and was trying to get it anyway. He made an excuse that he did it because he was hot.
I walked out, told him I had enough of being a dirty little secret, and that I was disgusted that he didnt respect my answer when I had said no, and blocked him.
I ended up unblocking him a week later as his parcel had arrived at my home. He had already been at my door twice and I didn't answer. I text him and asked him to collect his parcel, he apologised, and then I felt sorry for him as I know he hasn't got any family and I know he's lonely. I know he also has no way of doing his washing, and I felt bad about that.
I explained to him that I wasnt happy about being a dirty little secret, I asked him why, and he just kept on avoiding the question. I also made it clear I didn't like the fact he didnt respect my answer. I said we can be friends, but thats it.
He still keeps ringing me non stop, its too much, i have things to do. On the phone he'll keep saying "love you so much" "you look very nice" and ive told him its not appropriate and he still does it.
He wanted me to order him more things to my house and I tried to encourage him to order the things himself (he seems incapable of doing anything), and he went off on one calling me a bad friend, saying he's got no one etc, and it made me feel bad.
He drives for a living a drives past my house, and told me he slows down and he can see my house, and sees when I have visitors.
He keeps asking to come round for coffee, and I keep making excuses. He now wants us to go out to a pub, but I don't want to.
He keeps trying to offer to buy me things, which I have said no. Ive never been influenced by money, nor will I ever be.
He kept saying he'd pay for a tattoo for me, I said no about 20 times. The next day he said he was going to take me to the tattoo shop and I snapped at him as I had already said no, and he just won't take no for an answer.
Today he's dropped his laundry off on my doorstep, and there was a bag with chocolate, alcohol, and other bits in. I had already said that I didnt want them when he said he said was going to buy them. I had said no, and yet again he didnt listen. I know its probably kindness, but I just dont want them, and I dont want to encourage him.
At the moment I'm feeling really anxious about the whole situation. I have no idea what to do, and im really an empathetic kind of person, but I just can't take this any more. Ive made it clear I don't want a relationship with him, and the way he won't take no for an answer is making me uncomfortable.
Am I overreacting about all of this? I honestly don't know what to do. I feel sorry for him, but I just can't keep being hounded like this anymore.

Stop feeling sorry for him he is not your friend. You are not being unreasonable, he is not a nice person man and you should bock and ignore.

TheSmallAssassin · 02/08/2026 15:23

Honestly, just block him, it sounds like he is just using you in lots of different ways, he is no friend!

Don't feel guilty about his laundry, laundrettes exist!

aliasfrog · 02/08/2026 15:23

Get the hell away from him. I stopped reading at the point he coerced you into having sex with him.
This man does not respect your autonomy. Run and don't look back

BMW58 · 02/08/2026 15:24

Has he never heard of launderettes? Haven't you?

Is he Muslim and you're obviously not?

Why can't you see that he's just using you???
Where is your pride?

Tweedledeedledum · 02/08/2026 15:28

I'd send him one last message saying his stuff is in the bin and will be gone on whatever day the binmen come. Then block him everywhere. Him driving past, whether he's working or not, and looking to see if you have guests is a huge red flag.
Do you have a friend you can share this with so you have someone to contact alongside the police if you feel threatened?

Topseyt123 · 02/08/2026 15:30

You are underreacting. He is a creep, a pest and he should have stayed blocked.

I would have returned his washing (unwashed) along with the gifts (they are coercion and manipulation). It's bullshit that he has no way of doing his washing. Has he never heard of launderettes, or even occasionally hand washing?

Block him again, and this time don't unblock him. If he gets parcels sent to your place then don't accept them, or return them to the sender (information is usually somewhere on the outside of the packaging.

Call the police if he keeps this up. It is harassment.

DelphiniumBlue · 02/08/2026 15:33

He's got no friends or family, so who is he keeping you a secret from? ( but his friend is close enough to have a key to his flat)
He's got a flat with more than one bathroom but can't get a washing machine?
He's hot, so pulls down his pants??
He's having parcels sent to your address despite you having split up with him.
He's been blocked but is harassing you.
He tries to coerce you into having sex.
He's not your friend. Tell him you 'll report him to the police if he tries to contact you again, and then block him.

Skippyasyermuni · 02/08/2026 15:34

You grow up. Seriously, you’re an adult. This guy is a creep, controlling and just bloody weird.

Do you not have many friends or something? Because I don’t understand why you’re clinging to this man? He can wash his clothes - there are washing machines at thousands of petrol station, as well as laundrettes on the high street. Stop engaging with him, don’t pick anything up that he leaves on your doorstep, don’t even message him. Block him completely and leave any parcels he has delivered outside and leave anything he drops off sitting outside.

Have no contact with him. And maybe get some counselling because you’ve got some big issues with your self esteem and boundaries. You are behaving in a very odd and desperate way. Stop it.

Bonkers1966 · 02/08/2026 15:37

Stop feeling sorry for him. He has correctly pegged you as a soft target and is acting accordingly. Guessing you are in your twenties. Please be careful.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 02/08/2026 15:39

Laundry?! WTF is he doing dropping laundry at your door?

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · 02/08/2026 15:40

Please block him again and report him for harassment. Why the fuck is he dropping his laundry off to you?!

Justaquestionplease · 02/08/2026 15:42

The whole thing sounds mega weird

Whosthetabbynow · 02/08/2026 15:43

Block. Delete.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/08/2026 15:45

A boundary pusher is a dangerous person. You need to get out of this relationship now.

He doesn’t think you have the right to make decisions that don’t suit him and keeps pushing you to do what he wants.

Women are socialised to be nice and helpful but that socialisation is doing you no favours right now. He is not a good person, he does not respect you and he does not regard you as an equal.

Quietly fade out of his life. The driving by a monitoring you is another worrying sign. So no drama, no big showdowns just quiet unavailability.

Violetwall · 02/08/2026 15:47

Keep him blocked.
He can use a laundrette.

Tell him you don't want further contact and will go to the police.

He is a pest.

InterestedDad37 · 02/08/2026 15:47

Tell him to piss off, then ignore him.

Meadowfinch · 02/08/2026 15:51

He has no friends because he is a vile person. Refuse to do his laundry, that’s what launderettes are for, block him on all channels and show yourself some respect.
If he hassles you again, report him to the police. Men who won’t accept no are dangerous and you are putting yourself at risk.

No-one needs a creep like that in their life.

Wingedharpy · 02/08/2026 15:54

If he can afford to buy you "chocolate, alcohol and other bits", he can afford to use a laundrette.
This man does not "need" you.

Springtimeinsunshine · 02/08/2026 17:18

He's got a flat with more than one bathroom but can't get a washing machine?
Worth repeating.

If you live in the UK there are specialised shops that do laundry and they are called launderettes. Where do you live OP? Oh, and block him then go and do some therapy to find your self esteem. It seems to be missing.

ShakaWhenTheWallsFell · 02/08/2026 19:25

Put all his dirty washing, gifts, parcels outside next to your bin. Since he drives past your home often he'll see them and collect them if he has an ounce of sense. If not, the binmen can take them.
Block him and forget about him. Don't ever contact him again.
Get a video doorbell. Eufy are cheap and don't require a subscription.
Contact 101 and report his behaviour to the police, just to have a record in existence should anything further happen.

Most importantly, why have you accepted being treated like this? Who do you have in real life to support you? And talk to? Do you need therapy? Have you been used, hurt or abused in the past? You desperately need to develop your own sense of self worth before you get into another relationship. Post here for help; talk to your friends or family if they're good, sane, sensible people; read books; do the freedom course; whatever you want, but please put yourself first and work on this

We have very few launderettes round here.

TFImBackIn · 03/08/2026 11:37

Save your empathy for people who deserve it. This disgusting man isn't worthy of your empathy.

If he keeps on harassing you then go to the police - seriously, your word is not enough for him to stop this behaviour.

FairyBatman · 03/08/2026 12:08

Just cut him off, from what you write it’s so obvious he is using you.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 03/08/2026 12:32

Do not do the laundry for a start, or take anything from the bag with chocolate and alcohol. He can collect it from the end of your garden, unless you put it in the bin.

Tell him that you no longer wish to see him as he will not take no for an answer, and it is making you anxious and uncomfortable. Block him and/or delete his number. If he does not accept this, contact the police. Do what you need to do to keep yourself safe, OP- and whatever you do, don't fall back into his trap.

Put yourself first, and don't let other people walk all over you, or wear you down. I know that it's hard, and you'll feel guilty at first, but... life gets better when you cut the "can't take no for an answer, so I'll guilt-trip you instead" people out of your life. Best wishes!

BumblebeesandPaperbags · 03/08/2026 12:37

You aren’t safe with this man. You are under-reacting to his behaviour and he is manipulating you.

Stop doing his laundry, stop answering the door to him, stop accepting gifts, stop accepting parcels, stop answering his calls.

Just stop.
