AIBU to ask neighbours to stop spraying air freshener in the hall?

I’ve just moved into a nice block of flats it’s great neighbours are lovely etc my only issue is someone at least twice daily sprays air freshers in the communal hall I swear the must walk up and down the stairs spraying it as it’s just as bad at my door on the second floor as at the front door.

I’m allergic to a lot of perfumes and it’s awful every time I have to come and go and even around my front door I sneeze because of it.

Would I be unreasonable to put a note up asking people to lay off the air fresheners because of allergies. I don’t want to cause issues as the new person but it’s awful I’m having to take my inhaler that I normally only need when I get ill and my face is breaking out because of it will have to start on daily antihistamines soon as the more I’m exposed the worse I know it will get.

I would definitely chase up whoever is doing this, or put a note in a public place so the person who is doing this can see it.
Years ago it became illegal for shop assistants to physically spray customers with perfume without their consent due to the risk of it causing Asthma attacks in vulnerable people.
Likewise my friend was a receptionist in a Specialists surgery years ago and she had to put up a note requesting patients to not use perfumes when attending the surgery due to the bad effect it was having on some of the patients. I remember her telling me the worst perfumes for causing problems were Red Door, Opium & Poison.

But they’re a horrible fake chemical smell that’s nothing like fresh air.

I’m highly allergic to them too and they cause migraines for me.

Someone sprayed some sickly air freshener in our small kitchen at work once and the smell had an instant effect and I projectile vomited all down the hallway. It was excruciatingly embarrassing and I had to lie down on the floor until I could start breathing normally again.

Farting would be preferable to be honest!

Weed stink is a pita,two in our block landings reek and the smell permeates into our flat.
