DD came into my room at 4.45 to whisper "Mummy, mummy I slept really well" then padded back to bed and went back to sleep

now

MindingMum · 26/06/2008 05:56

At least she went back to her room instead of getting in your bed.

Yabu IMO because she obviously wanted reassurance, got it and left.

Easy for me to say I suppose as I'm up before 5am every morning just for the experience of being alone and not having to listen to children's chatter for a couple of hours!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 26/06/2008 06:06

LGJ legs it.....

Buda · 26/06/2008 06:16

Aren't they SO sweet?

No?

Sorry!

mckenzie · 26/06/2008 07:23

YABU. At least she took herself straight off back to bed and to sleep. DD came into my room at 4.30am. I then played bed tag with her for 30 mins. Just got her settled and starting to doze off when DS comes in all upset at about 5.15 because the tooth fairy hadn't collected his tooth (DH and I both forgot!!)

Aw, but yes annoyingly sweet as you can't go back to sleep. You have my sympathies I have been up since 5:30 with dd2.

motherinferior · 26/06/2008 10:10

I feel your pain.

Keenly.

Little bugger darling.

love2sleep · 26/06/2008 10:15

A few weeks ago DS1 woke us up shouting from his bed. DH went through...

DH: what is the matter?
DS1: I need to see Mummy.

So I went through ...

Me: What is the matter?
DS1: I can't tell you. It's a secret. I'll tell you in the morning.

I share your pain

hotcrossbunny · 26/06/2008 10:16

Oh no! I really feel for you. Our dd is doing something similar atm. Dh goes straight back to sleep, but if it's after 4 am, then I'm awake waiting for morning

orangina · 26/06/2008 10:16

twig, my dd did exactly the same thing. pad pad pad, hello mummy, i'm awake now, etc....

But she didn't go back to sleep.

augh!

you'd have thought that having been awake for... ooh, 5 and a half hours by now, I might have achieved something. Apart from eating a large carbohydrate based breakfast and huge coffee. But no....

Romy7 · 26/06/2008 10:17

ds1 came in to tell me at 3.30 that he needed a wee. go and have one then. but thought i'd better check in case the bed was wet. it wasn't.
dd2 had already fallen out of bed at 1.30.
ds1 then got up at 6 and woke the dogs, both sisters, and me, and probably the street.
i am going to shoot him.
but not until after his parent teacher meeting, which is tonight.
then i'm going to shoot him.
dd2 did say to me, later, 'mummy, i think it was you shouting that woke the neighbours...'

6 would have been fine, if it hadn't been like piccadilly circus all night.

harumph.

taliac · 26/06/2008 10:35

I actually went out last night for the first time in aaaages, so got to bed at 12.30.

5am, DD2 screaming. I went in and fed her, only for DD1 to wake up and start yelling for milk.

DD2 started drifting off, I got DD1 some milk, put her back to bed. "Stay a little bit mummy".

So I stayed and then when they both seemed like they were asleep, I snuck out.

My head had just touched the pillow when DD2 started crying again. She had filled her nappy. I got her up, brought her into my room, and start changing her only to hear DD1 howling "wheres mummy! wheres DD2 gone!"

At this point it was 6am so I gave up, brought them both into my bed and put cbeebies on. Then I fell asleep with DD2 for half an hour while DD1 watched Cbeebies and generally rearranged my room. Not my greatest parenting moment but there you are..

We are all now knackered!

Romy7 · 26/06/2008 10:45

ooo, pyjama day!
i miss those!
we are reinstating them on a sunday though.
i refuse to get dressed before 11 am and don't care a jot if they watch tv in their pjs until then!
i suggest biscuits around now...

Twiglett · 26/06/2008 12:22

we have had a talk

I managed to get back to sleep at about 6.40 having cleaned kitchen and put a wash on and DH kissed me awake at 8.35 .. so not a terrible day

awwwwwwww.
bunny clock?

edam · 26/06/2008 12:40

Not sure quite how you argue with that line of reasoning.

mixedmama · 26/06/2008 17:26

This thread made me laugh - I know it isnt funny at the time. My DS1 regualrly comes in and shouts BUZZ as he is completely obessed with Toy Story. He then climbs on the bed and kisses me as he thinks this will wake me up.

Twiglett · 26/06/2008 18:14

it was the stage whisper that got me

OP posts:
LittleMyDancing · 26/06/2008 18:18

I feel for you. DS woke up shouting at 3am - I went in there and he was sitting bolt upright shouting 'I want some birthday cake!'

Sigh.
