AIBU to think my neighbour's unlicensed driving is unacceptable?

Neighbour and I have fallen out about 8 months ago after they parked over my drive and wouldn’t move there car because they don’t have a drive and are the entitled type. Caused a big hoo ha, they are not well liked at all on our street and the poor neighbours next to them are older and tell us all that they are all up till 3am in the garden (9yr old included who does t go to school) in the pool/hot tub music led lights the lot all mid terrace houses. The dad is on pip for a mental breakdown and back problems yet he goes to work when he feels like it in the company council van think benefit style family.
just eat and Deliveroo throughout the day I only know this because the delivery drivers set my doorbell off anyhow…. Her eldest had his driving licence revoked about a year ago, his pip car is used by his parents but sometimes I see him parking it. I turn a blind eye but sometimes he gets so close to my car on my drive I keep thinking one day he will hit it. well this week he’s reversing into a space in the step dads company van…. AIBU to think this is completely unacceptable? If he hits my car nothing would happen because 1 he doesn’t have a licence and 2 no insurance ….

The one statement that jumps out here is a nine year old not going to school. Is this a fact?

Just the one?

People will tell you to report him and he could have an accident and harm others. But ultimately you have to live there and I'd be very wary of starting a neighbour war as they will probably know it's you. So the "right thing" is to report, but you have to bear the consequences.

Rizzz · Today 12:14

Well that was a very long-winded way of asking if driving without a licence and insurance is unacceptable.

What makes you think it might not be, given that it's illegal?

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · Today 12:15

How the hell do you know so much about these people?! You must know them reasonably well as friends I suppose to know all the ins and outs of their benefits claims and medical issues, so ask when he got his licence back.

Not at all goady.

but fyi pip is not just an out of work benefit.

I suspect the OP very well knows this.

Why did need all the stuff about deliveroo and hot tubs and benefits to answer if someone should be driving without a driving license (obviously not)?

JustMyView13 · Today 12:46

Well, the MIB would pay for any damage should you be hit by an uninsured driver. So if that’s your core concern, then there are systems in place for that.

Lexy2345 · Today 13:06

Is this a bit of benefit bashing disguised as concern about a banned driver in a car?
PIP doesn’t mean your neighbour can’t work incidentally.

It definitely is, isn’t it!

Is it more the case he goes to work when he is well enough? Or do you think he is faking it?
Might have been better to just stick to the unlicensed driver and your concerns over that, than the benefit aspect as you don't know for sure what his health issues are and how they affect his every day life

“His pip car is used by his parents”

8 words, multiple unspoken sneering criticisms.

And more ridiculous by the day. Pip cars, uber eats takeaways, hot tubs,🥱.

lovelycattus · Today 13:50

How do you know he’s had his license revoked?

Octavia64 · Today 13:50

Driving without insurance and a licence is illegal, yes.

Yup, benefit bingo! It used to be massive TVs and tatts

SummerFeverVenice · Today 13:56

agree with the benefit bashing being nonsense.
as for moving a car on private property- adjusting where parked on a drive was your example, that isn’t driving without a licence. You can’t drive from point A to point B on a public road when your license is suspended or revoked. You can certainly pull a car out the garage, wash it and put it back in again. You can also pull out, turn around and pull in again.
Finally, pip cars are allowed multiple drivers- the disabled person if they can drive (many cannot) and any named carers. The pip car is to be used for the benefit of the disabled person.

So, there is nothing to report,

PetChipGirl · Today 14:07

Bash people exploiting benefits if you want. More importantly, report them. Also, obviously report the driving licence issue.
