Dh just keeps handing Dd his phone

Dd is almost 8. She’s never had an ipad etc. We have a desktop computer and the last year has started doing building or maths games on it and was allowed at weekends. She had occasionally done games on our phones
I didn’t want to start her on any of it, but her friends have their own phones with games and YouTube on (no social media) so I wanted to allow her some time on the desktop but not too often.
Recently Dh is just handing her his phone when she asks (which has become a lot now) and it seems to have become a daily thing in the evening. When he attempts to take it off her, she gets very upset/angry, then he gets cross at her-but its his fault surely?!

Is this crap/wrong?

What's she using it for?

He is also her parent - and youre both not on the same page about tech. might be worth a chat to make sure you both know what your thoughts are in reagards to phone use because you dont like it and he doesnt mind it

Do you know his?

Not being combative bere but if he is handing the phone to her it appears his view differs to yours so you need to find a middle way.

Edited

We both seemed to stick to the rules, but now he’s just handing it over. It keeps her occupied and quiet I suppose…it’s lazy to me

I also don’t think it’s good for Dd to have two different rules on it, it’s confusing surely

I think you need to talk again and discuss feelings about use of tech and re-establish the rules

So really you have some thoughts/rules, he follows them but doesnt seem to have as much of a conscious point/reasoning to it; and gives it to her.

If it was something he felt more bold about would he give in to her because he was being lazy or would he stand with his beliefs and it would still be a no..

So have that conversation. Find out why he is doing it. How to manage it. Don't assume he just knows what your view is and will follow it. Even if it was previously agreed. He is obviously not on board with something..

Is he finding it hard to say nk
O?
Does he feel you agreed something too strong?
Anything else..
