Fucking entitled men and their bullshit comments

Needchocolateandsleep · 09/07/2026 18:27

So sick of men who feel as though they have the right to make uninvited, unhelpful, unnecessary comments.

Today driving - went to drive past a car on left that I thought was parked. As I went to drive past, I suddenly realised he wasn't parked, he was just stopped. I waved to apologise and started to reverse back behind him.

However, white van man then drove straight up behind the stopped car - even though he could see I was starting to reverse. Which then prevented me reserving. He then shouted at me 'you've got kids in the car you know!''

Seriously like wtf? Just why?? Why feel the need to shout?? Why feel the need to try and shame me?? Why feel the need to attack my competence as a mother??

Yes I made a mistake, acknowledged it to other driver (who was absolutely fine btw as they realised what I'd done) and was attempting to rectify it.

Made me so so angry because I can guarantee if I was a man he would not have done this.

Just a couple of months ago I was reserving into a space. Another white van man pulled up beside me to give me a lecture, tell me that I was never going to get in there etc etc. I told him to mind his own business and am proud to say I actually managed it perfectly fine!!!!!

So many incidents of men doing this over the years (not all related to driving...but a lot are!)

Just why do some men feel the need to do this?

How do you know he didn’t raise an eyebrow? Were you there?
If there was ongoing vehicle then of course it was dangerous, what bearing does stopping to converse have in that?
And if in your experience “this happens all the time” to you then maybe you should go re-take some lessons.

Because it's in the OP, she aknowledged the other driver, who was fine.

If there was time to stop and exchange conversation then it obviously wasn't a fast road. People wouldn't stop to comment if lives were in danger.

Of course it happens all the time. I commute by bus, just about everyday this happens. The bus is stopped, then it puts on it's indicator at the precise moment there is an overtaking car (sometimes the bus is late indicating, sometimes the car is late realising the bus is pulling out). The car stops to allow the bus to pull out, meanwhile another car comes along the opposite way and slows down a little to allow everyone to get where they're going. Yes it's an error by either the bus or the car depending on circs, but it doesn't result in flaming death bc it's generally on a slow road, it's not a big deal.

Winefride · 10/07/2026 07:51

Road rage in the UK is off the charts. I was going left, taking my turn, and halted so I wouldn't stop in the sin bin. Out of courtesy, I let a car go in the sin bin which I would follow when the flow of traffic continued and would mean I wouldn't be sat there, but a man raced ahead so that he stopped in the sin bin and prevented me from going left at all. I honked at him, because in racing ahead, he almost clipped my bumper and he very slowly reached over his wife and flipped me off.

I hate this disgusting behaviour from men. They are bullies on the road because there is not any recourse and white van drivers are one of the worst and dangerous offenders.

I'd have been tempted to say

OHMY GOD! Kids?! In the car?! Do I?! Shit do they look like me? Do you think they're mine?? How many?

Wish my brain worked that fast, tbh.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 10/07/2026 08:11

Presumably the man you passed wasn’t indicating? You can’t always see past to know whether someone is stopped or waiting to pull out.
I sat behind a ‘queue of traffic’ for five minutes last year, only to discover they were all waiting to collect after a kids’ class.

Naunet · 10/07/2026 08:13

Ugh why men think we need their constant feedback I dont know. I was standing at some traffic lights at a junction once, a road i crossed at least 6 times a day and knew the pattern of the lights, so knew I had at least a minute wait, so was looking at my phone. As the traffic stopped infront of me, I could feel the eyes of a motorcyclist staring at me, I ignored. Knowing that once the traffic infront of me stopped, the lights were about to change for me to cross, I slipped my phone in my pocket, checked it was green for me to cross, when the guy on the bike whizzed into my path intentionally almost hitting me, screaming at me to pay attention to the road. He was so focused on 'teaching me a lesson', he wasn't paying any attention himself and had failed to realise the lights were green for me and red for him, and just ran straight through it. Stupid prick could have killed himself and others.

DontDareCallMeDarling · 10/07/2026 08:20

A few weeks back I was driving along an unfamiliar road on the outskirts of a village looking for the car park at the village hall. I pulled up at the side of the road to ask a couple on a bench where it was. A Range Rover pulled up behind me. I've no idea why as they could have overtaken. I was gesturing to the driver to get past me but he didn't. When I indicated to move away he suddenly overtook, all the while holding down the horn and his female passenger flicking Vs and mouthing obscenities.

Tell him to tune into Sara Cox every morning for kids in the car!

Dinosaurhearmeroar · 10/07/2026 18:13

Both times you mention white van men - a common theme. I get older men staring at me while I parallel park - I rolled down my window recently and said please don’t watch, it makes this much harder. He said oh sorry! Think I totally disarmed him. 😂

🙄

Another one of these. I'm amazed how some of my fellow women cope in this world 😂

Hollybollyhughes · 10/07/2026 19:06

It happens but to me with Audi drivers and BMW's, why? A hateful git of a driver, I was going to work around 5.30am. Dual carriageway 50 mph, which my little car does easily off the traffic lights. Dick head Audi behind couldn't stand a little car in front, over took erratically then killed a jackdaw. Could have slowed down but chose to kill this beautiful bird. Absolute dick head.

There's an element of total arse holes who drive as if your life or anyone else's doesn't matter. Don't start me on the texting at the wheel.

FFSItsTooHot · 10/07/2026 19:31

Because he's obviously never ever made a mistake in his entire life. Twat. Honestly, the more I hear about men and their shitty behaviour, the more I am so glad that I have given up on them.

Or maybe your mum at age 66 shouldn’t be driving…

Are you suggesting a 66 year old is likely to be too old to drive? Do you realise that that is less than the retirement age?

TheDevilWears · 11/07/2026 02:17

Honestly I experience sooo many horribly aggressive male drivers these days 🙁 some are really angry because I won’t drive over the speed limit in London … there are cameras everywhere ffs! One man was so angry when I indicated and overtook a bus that he tailgated me so closely he drove into my bumper - he was waaaay back when I indicated I was moving to overtake and sped up to attempt to cut me off. I had a taxi driver screaming at me because I mistakenly indicated to turn left … but couldn’t when I realised it was a bus lane. It did not inconvenience or affect him AT ALL! It truly seems that they just want to intimidate and be hateful. I have been driving over forty years. I’ve never had an accident. To my knowledge I’ve never caused an accident. I’m careful but not over cautious or nervous … I just believe that road rage is become so much more prevalent.

mamajong · 11/07/2026 03:16

Sherararara · 09/07/2026 21:47

This. Not really about entitled men is it? It’s about being called out for dangerous driving. You went to overtake a car without confirming the oncoming lane was clear.

Agree with this and I have seen men call out other men and women call out women. Its not helpful or nice when you acknowledge a mistake and still get shit for it, but also you were in the wrong. Shake it off and move on

Buzzingabout · 11/07/2026 03:17

I remember a few years back I was reversing into a space at the doctor’s surgery car park. An elderly man with white hair and a pink face jumped out iof his car and started waving me back and giving signals and interfering. I said that I had got my licence in 1980 and knew how to drive and to go away. His wife rolled down the window and indignantly told me that he was only trying to help. Ah me.

Tamtim · 11/07/2026 06:41

It’s not all men, but my golly gosh, it’s always bloody men. It’s amazing, as women, how we’re usually able to see, apologise and rectify our mistakes, but men just feel the need to shout or berate. It’s always such a shock when a man actually offers help or helpful advice without judgement. What does it take to be a kind, decent and understanding human?

PatB01 · 11/07/2026 08:41

Hon, you know how many men are intimidated by competent women - I normally just wave my little finger at these idiots

TheWickerWoman · 11/07/2026 09:02

Not driving on the road but this reminds me of when my daughter pulled into a disabled space at Starbucks (she’s got a legitimate disabled badge).

older guy got out of his car and stood filming her with a smirk on his face, she got out and said ‘are you alright mate. Are you the council’. At that point she’d pulled her badge out of glove box and was displaying it but he had to style it out then and carried on. His son, then got out and came over to apologise profusely. She said to the son, it’s ok I know I don’t look disabled, thank you for apologising... but that man would not back down and apologise. He just went back to his own car. She gave a little speech about reasons why people can have badges etc and went on her way.

I am going to say here, younger generations never bat an eye lid but people (always men) of a certain age tend to be ready to come over look for a badge or say something about her using the space. Even with a badge.

Patricia69 · 11/07/2026 09:16

Because men are all assholes

pouletvous · 11/07/2026 11:36

People who randomly stop and don’t indicate cause havoc

I don't think the PP was suggesting any such thing.

But the poster they were replying to, felt it was necessary to mention her mother's age for some reason.

And the age of the woman who suggested she put her hazards on?

I hate London driving, the circular roads are full of people doing this, it is really noticeable these days compared to 20 years ago. So much tailgating. I live in the SE and the traffic is pretty horrendous but it's not the same level of aggression as London.

DeadSpace3 · 11/07/2026 15:27

"Fucking entitled women and their bullshit comments about men"

Doesn't sound so great the other way around does it? And yet there's no male equivalent of "the Karen".

Laurmolonlabe · 11/07/2026 15:31

Sexual imcompetence making them feel they should belittle women at every opportunity?

Pessismistic · 11/07/2026 16:55

Because a lot of men think women drivers are not road worthy they are just bullies who think they are better than us in all ways I bet they would not like it if a man did this to a wife or daughter of theirs. Op you did the right thing ignore the bullies. I’ve seen grown men nearly have fights over this type of behaviour you kept your cool I would ignore them if it happens again.
