To think we need to talk more about how annoying smokey barbecues are as they waft deathly particulates into your neighbour's house

I know we all need to live with each others foibles and barbecues are fun or whatever but jesus

I think while they’re a thing (we don’t have one), you should just smile and think it’s nice people are enjoying being outside and maybe pop your head over the fence and ask for a burger!!!

TheChosenTwo · Today 20:51

Sorry, it’s probably us. Although our bbq and outdoor oven are a fair way from our neighbours windows I’m sure the smells and ‘particulates’ don’t bother them that much though, one of them usually calls over that it smells nice, while they’re doing their own outdoor cooking.

youalright · Today 20:52

No i love the smell of bbq and the only feeling I get when the neighbours are having one is jealousy and whether it would be totally inappropriate to pop my head over the fence and ask for a burger.

Deathly particles? Talk about it all you want but it’d be easier if you just shut your back windows while the BBQ is on if you are afraid of the death

I'm not going to give them a hard time I know it's mainstream wholesome fun but seriously this stuff is poison and my kitchen with the window jammed shut is full of it (and I'm not even getting the consolation of a sausage).

You are not being unreasonable. The smell of burning flesh is absolutely revolting and should be classed as smell pollution as well as animal abuse.

As long as you don't drive or get lifts in a car, or order anything that gets delivered - https://www.emissionsanalytics.com/news/pollution-tyre-wear-worse-exhaust-emissions

I don't drive, no, and don't use cars

I don't think they're comparable on particulates in homes, though

It’s those BBQs that smell of lighter fluid.

Their food must taste of this

MyLimeGuide · Today 20:56

Are you vegan OP?

My window is shut (it's not a hermetically sealed window tho)

If their barbecues are excessively smokey, they're doing it wrong.

😂😂😂😂

I would be ok with restrictions at least on disposable barbecues, as away from gardens they have often been a source of woodland fires.

You can have an afternoon with friends using your cooker to cook food.

I could happily be vegan

Vegan food isn't less polluting if that's your angle

We have many ‘proper’ barbecues (not an outside gas grill) but they’re never smoky or anywhere near our neighbours’ houses.
