Can b12 vitamin cause body pain

I’ve started taking a 1000ug of vitamin b12 around 5-6 days ago and I’m in so much pain, it started in my right arm and slowly up into my shoulder yesterday and today my left arm from my hand right up to my shoulder and it’s constant, I’m also getting hip and thigh pain and pain in my neck and back that has been coming and going all day, I have read online that if you are severely lacking vitamin b12 it can cause pain as the nerves “come back to life” does anyone have any experience to share as I don’t know if it’s the vitamins or if something else entirely.

id get checked quickly as that doesn't sound right or what i would expect from b12. I get injections as im low and never noticed pain increasing.

That isn't a typical or expected response to b12 supplementation regardless of the level of existing deficiency so I would be cautious about attributing to supplementation and instead see a GP in the morning (or call 111) and have it assessed of its own merit.

I would also discontinue the supplement until you've spoken to the GP and discuss it's use and ingredients with them when you mention these new symptoms. Have you got a diagnosis of a deficiency that requires b12 supplementation?

I do get some mild and passing symptoms when receiving my B12 injections (on the nhs), these were worse when I first started receiving them and was dangerously deficient at that time. Things like a slight headache, feeling hot/a little achey and rather annoyingly, acne (which fortunately has resolved over time). Depending on the skill of the injector it can also cause some muscular type arm pain if done poorly but again, not like you describe.

Hope things improve OP.

When my mum had IV drips in hospital she felt very 'odd' afterwards.
