Kids images on Vinted!

AIBU to think that parents who are selling kids clothes on Vinted are completely irresponsible to have their kids modeling them (& showing their faces)?. Just been perusing Vinted and the amount of children on there is unbelievable. Don't parents realize their images are used elsewhere?. Or am I being unreasonable??

Some people are just a bit thick.

Vinted could easily fix this by not allowing faces on the kids section.

But there’s no money in it, so they won’t

I completely see your point if we are talking about general internet privacy, but we have to look at the actual context here. A child’s face is already seen by hundreds of strangers every single day just by going to school or walking through a supermarket.

Vinted doesn't share the child's name, their school, or where they live, so the image is entirely anonymous. If a child models a completely normal, fully clothed outfit to show the fit, it carries no more risk than a kid modeling in a Zara catalogue that gets posted to millions of random houses. Predators look very specific, harmful content—they aren't harvesting everyday photos of kids wearing ordinary raincoats."

But some of the photos show children in swimming costumes etc and posing, which is very different to kids going about their business. I just think it's so risky.

Also, someone could easily do a reverse image search and find out more details of the children (especially if they're on social media). Predators are literally everywhere.

Thats fair enough to be concerned about, selling joggers and a t shirt, not so much.

The real risk is in letting your children use the internet, not in having a picture of your child on the internet. The big risk is in children being groomed from using the internet themselves.

What do you think is going to be done with a picture of a child modelling an outfit? Are you not aware that there are literally hundreds of companies selling children's clothes with children modelling them? You only have to go on Next or Decathlon for example. I have no idea what you think the risk is. Do you think someone is going to hunt them down? They don't need to hunt down a child spotted on the internet in swimwear when they can walk amongst and photograph in person any child they like on any public beach.

Personally I wouldn't put my kids on vinted as it's odd and unnecessary, just put a picture up of the clothes - but I don't think it's terribly dangerous.

The risk is that there are disgusting pervs who will use a child's face and manipulate it to look sexual using AI. You are very naive to think this isn't happening

Are you aware than AI will create pornographic material if any images is used. So, a predator takes an innocent photograph of a child online and uses it to make child sexual abuse images.
