AIBU to think Rigevidon has changed how I feel about him?

I started taking Rigevidon to help with PMDD and painful periods, as it was negativity affecting my relationship. My partner has been very supportive however since taking Rigevidon, I feel so disconnected from him, I still appreciate our friendship but I just feel like I don't love him and at times I feel like I hate him.
Right now I just feel like I should leave him and spend the rest of my life alone.

The artificial hormones in Rigevidon (levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol) can affect the brain directly @PearlWasp

For some, this can trigger new emotional struggles or exacerbate existing ones
Rigevidon is specifically named (scroll half way down)

This one made me really irritable. I fared much better on the progestogen-only pill.

Have you heard of Slynd? I find it balances my mood a bit and helps with the PMDD.

Toadflaxx · 30/06/2026 12:39

May I ask how old you are?

I had these feelings, despite knowing my DH is objectively a good bloke who I have always loved…

I was diagnosed with PMDD aged 41, and started body identical HRT (estrogen patch and progesterone)

The difference in my feelings about life, and DH, are night and day! I Think I probably needed the HRT a couple of years earlier, aged 38/39, now I think back

I am 21. My partner has been nothing but kind to me but its all the little things seem to turn into bigger things and get blown out of proportion and I lack the knowledge or emotional stability to realise it in the moment

Tell your GP that it's having this effect and discuss what other options there.

I might look into that. My GP recommended the combined pill for managing my depressive/anxiety periods.

I should maybe mention I am also only a week into taking this pill.

Oh ok, that makes a huge difference, it’s such a short term to try and judge things yet,

Are you keeping a feelings/symptoms diary? I use a dedicated google calendar and try to colour code my periods/headaches/emotional lows/bad sleep…. It’s incredibly helpful to look back and spot patterns

Sending a hug because it’s really exhausting trying to figure it out, and you are doing so well x

I had this with Rigevidon. I was previously on Orvanette for years with no trouble but my doctor changed me to this because it was cheaper and it badly affected my mental health.

I find this super interesting actually I am on this pill, Im a lot older than you (44) but my relationship with my partner has got so much worse the last few years. Like you say sometimes he irritates me so much and feel like I hate him, next week I regret being so harsh with him.

Thank you so much. I do track my symptoms consistently so I'm willing to give this a go for a bit before seeking other options.
