AIBU to ask companies for garden donations?

I have a friend who is a single mum to three children. She’s a nurse, works incredibly hard, and barely gets any time for herself.

She was recently evicted because her landlord was selling the property and has now been placed in temporary accommodation, where she’s been told she could be for up to five years.

She and two of her daughters have severe scoliosis, and she’s also just come out of a relationship with a complete narcissist.

Her outdoor space is in a really sad state, so I put a post on my local Facebook groups asking if anyone could help make it safe. The kindness people have shown has honestly restored my faith in humanity. This week I’ll be jet washing the whole area, but I’d love to make it feel like somewhere she can actually enjoy spending time.

I’d love to approach some larger companies to see if they have any end of line garden furniture, planters, solar lights, or anything else that could help transform the space.

I’d buy it all myself if I could, but unfortunately I just can’t afford to.

Has anyone had any success approaching companies like this? Do you think it’s worth asking, and if you’ve done something similar, I’d really appreciate any tips. Thank you so much. ❤

Also try your local Freecycle.

I’ve had garden furniture, umbrella and pots free from Marketplace.

You can try, I organised a charity event and we contacted companies for things to raffle, we had mixed results but some really good things when we sent in our covering letter explaining the event.

You can often get great cheap or free garden stuff on FB.
