Occupational Health and Work

i had an Occ Health assessment in 2021 following a rough time and the diagnosis of a chronic disease. The occ health assessment advised WFH one day a week (the other 3 days in office) which I have been doing since. Our company is contracted out to clients and I’ve been working for this client since 2015. Client now wants someone in person on my wfh day and my company have advised that I return to office on my wfh day. But my condition is chronic and no better. In fact it’s known to be progressive and now I have perimenopause in the mix which I’m finding harder. I suppose the client has a right to request whatever they want, but does my company have an obligation to find me another role that I can do for my wfh day? Or can they insist I return to the office full time? (Been with them since 2013 and really struggle on my in office days)

Can you switch which day you WFH whilst also accommodating the clients request?

TinyTempest · 25/06/2026 11:11

As @ThirdStorm says, can you not switch days?

whiteumbrella · 25/06/2026 11:21

Sorry I should have made it clear. The client wants all days to be in the office.

Following your OH report, did your company do a formal reasonable adjustment stating you will WFH one day a week?

Could they pass this client to a colleague and see that would take one that isn't bothered with WFH?

Would that work for you?

Yes, but they would need to find me something to do which I’m happy with but not sure if they will be able to find me something else within the company.

Surely they have more than one client. Ultimately, if they can't give you anything else, it falls under the trying to accommodate but can't without hurting the business, in which case, they don't legally have to agree.

@Passaggressfedup thanks this is what I wanted to know. They have numerous clients, but very few that allow wfh & I believe those posts are all filled up.

Just to add, my previous occupational health assessment concluded that I have a disability
