unreasonable or impatient!

I think its probably the latter really!

Its my dd's 2nd birthday tomorrow. I also have a 3.2 year old. Our lovely landlady agreed that we could have a dog...I popped a wanted ad on my local freecycle, and a lady got back to me, saying she was a fosterer and had a dog, seemed very keen, saying she could bring the dog to me, and sending me a picture.

The dog is lovely, i agreed that as long as the dog liked us and visa versa in person, we would definately like to have her, so she said oh i will bring her over tomorrow so you can see her and have her for your daughters birthday.

I said i would be in all day so any time was suitable to me, expecting her then email back with a time. She didnt, and it was 12am midnight at this point, so i figured she had gone to bed.

I havent heard from her all day now, and am starting to think she might not be coming? is is unreasonable to expect her to have got back to me by now, or just sheer impatience on my part!

she could have had an emergency to deal with that took presedence?

Twiglett · 24/06/2008 15:42

email her again

youcannotbeserious · 24/06/2008 15:43

CAn you not give her a quick call?

It might be she's planning on coming around this evening - does she work? Maybe she's at work all day?

I don't know aboutg BU but this sounds really dodgy to me. You don't know the dog's history or why she wants rid and you have two small children. I wouldn't go near this with a barge pole, either consider a puppy or at least if you want a rescue go through the proper channels with a professional rescue who will have assessed it's temperament.

justageek · 24/06/2008 15:44

that what i thought, but unless it was an emergency i kind of thought she would email back this morning to give an indicator of when was good for her (if she has kids or working) I did email her this morning, with my mobile number, but there was no reply.

she is a fosterer for a local rescue, they are sorting out their kennels just now which is why the dog is with her. She does know the dogs history, its 8 months old and loves kids.

Phone the resuce and find out what's going on if it's a proper rescue dog.

I'm not convinced a decent rescue would use freecycle in this way so I'd want to check out the credentials anyway.

justageek · 24/06/2008 15:50

i know the rescue she fosters for, my dad has had a few from there in the past but i missed their opening hours this morning, there is only people there twice a day to answer phones, from 10-11pm and 6-7pm. I have left a message on their answering machine though, so should get a call back just later in the day.

the rescue i got my rabbit from, a different one, used freecycle. I presume by coming to my home, its for the usual home visit. Thats why i was expecting to get a time really.

They may just be very disorganised, agree it's annoying if she's expecting you to wait in all day.

As you say, they should interview you and do a home check before they consider releasing the dog to you. I would definitely expect her to have given you a time though.

justageek · 24/06/2008 15:54

Thats what i thought today would be. She looks like such a lovely puppy and with young kids in the picture, i was really looking forward to seeing her. Maybe she will be in touch just later on. I will have to try to not be grumpy!
