Looking for some holiday inspiration!

We’re after a nice caravan, lodge or holiday park break that’s a bit more “glass of wine on the decking” than “queueing for the evening bingo”

Ideally somewhere in a lovely area with plenty for the kids to do (pool, playground, activities, nearby attractions etc.) but not really looking for the big Haven/Centre Parcs type resorts although would still like a bit of evening entertainment for the kid!.
Would love somewhere with a bit of a premium feel, nice surroundings and family-friendly without being too hectic.
Any hidden gems you’d recommend? Bonus points for hot tubs, outdoor pools and dog-friendly options!

posting here for traffic!

We really like Bluestone in Wales but it doesn’t really have a lot of evening entertainment- just certain bookable or sometimes included events

Finlake

Parkdean, Warmwell near Weymouth in Dorset.. just returned there after staying a week in one of their lake view location Superior lodges.. very clean, comfortable and well-located to Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Weymouth Beach, The Tank Museum ... well worth a visit for kids!

They have pet friendly lodges, lodges with hot tubs too.. saw lots of dogs, playgrounds to use and a dry outdoor ski slope!

Agree with Bluestone in Pembrokeshire, though I haven't been for years. Pine Lakes in Cumbria is nice too, close to the lake District and Morecambe bay. A quiet site with basic facilities, but a lake view, and very similar lodge to Bluestone/Center Parks with your own balcony decking for outdoor dining. No tacky entertainment but you can hire boats etc

Highlands End, Eype, near Bridport.

They have caravans, lodges, pods, a few apartments... Kids entertainment a few nights a week.

We went to Retallack in Cornwall. Near Padstow. It was quite a long time ago but at the time had what you’re after. Worth looking at anyway.

Forest Lodges are great and there’s several locations throughout the UK.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 22/06/2026 09:31

It's not quite a holiday park but wilderness reserve is nice.

Sandy Balls in the New Forest is lovely. Part of the Away Resorts group.

Cyclebabble · 22/06/2026 11:46

I would recommend Beverley Park in Devon. Lots to do on site and only 1 10 mins walk down to a quite nice beach. Lots to see and do in the area around there.

We stayed here a few years ago through Away Breaks I believe, our kids loved the inflatable water adventure activity.
We also stayed at St Ives bay (Hayle) where you can head right onto the beach too and we parked at Hayle station to go into St Ives.

Thanks for all these suggestions. Does anyone have recommendations for further north ? I would love to try the Cornwall area however the 9 hour drive puts me off

Potters in Gt Yarmouth - and I think they have another site now too but not sure where. All inclusive type thing but top notch.

NavyNorris · 22/06/2026 16:37

Potters at Hopton on Sea. It's not caravans but it's all inclusive and has so many activities. It's nicer than a caravan holiday (I still love a caravan though!)

MyGlassMenagerie · 22/06/2026 16:38

Would highly recommend Bainland Lodge Retreats | Lincolnshire.

We’re due to go again in a couple of weeks, and this will be our third year. Loads on site for kids to do, an enclosed field if you have dogs, and lovely on site restaurant, shop, etc.

Twirlywirly25 · 22/06/2026 16:51

Darwin Forest near Matlock. It ticks most of the boxes except no evening entertainment or outdoor pool. Lots of things to do in the area within a short drive.

EgregiouslyOverdressed · 22/06/2026 16:58

I am happy to be corrected on this but having had lovely holidays in both Bluestone and Finlake, IME the smarter holiday park places don't tend to lay on evening entertainment.
