AIBU to consider Mounjaro at BMI 27 to lose two stone?

With the likes of MedExpress now offering mounjaro to anyone with a BMI of 25+, WIBU to take it? I am 5ft 6, 12 stone, so not hugely overweight. I’d like to lose 2 stone so I can be comfortably in the healthy category for BMI. I also want to get a handle on it before it spirals out of control. I had my baby 3 years ago and just can’t shift the weight, finding time to exercise etc is really difficult and I find I have no willpower and snack a lot on bad food as I’m always rushing around. I’m hoping mounjaro will kick start better habits for me.

My family and partner are firmly against it, saying it’s lazy to use it and should only be for very obese people. My friends who have used it themselves are much more supportive. I’d have to hide it from everyone apart from a select few friends if I did take it as everyone would be so judgemental.

That’s really easy to say

But my point is, if you don’t change your thinking around food and exercise and weight management, and tackle the reasons underpinning your inability to be consistent in better habits, then you will regain the weight you lose at the end of a Mounjaro regime. It’s no different in that regard from any other weight loss method. You stop applying the method, you go back to the habits that made you gain weight in the first place, you put the weight back on.

Take the drugs, don’t take the drugs: in the long run you have to change your habits and be consistent if you want the change to stick. And stop looking for loopholes, such as the ‘I’ve blow it now, so keep going and start again on Monday/end of the holiday/new year.’. And I have kicked more habits than most people have even sampled, so I know a fair bit about addiction and the little stories we tell ourselves to keep going in our patterns.

I’m that size and no I wouldn’t. Frankly, I wouldn’t want to lose 2 stone. Maybe one, max. But I wouldn’t do WLI if you paid me.

I am 5ft 8 and weighed 11st 4 , I wanted to get to 10 stone. I joined Slimming World and lost half a stone in the first week and got to 10 stone in just under 3 months. I would definitely try something like this before taking WL injections.

I did at BMI 26, to lose a stone and a half.
I'm 5 foot and every pound shows.

If you’re not happy with your weight then yes give it a go, it’s no different from going on a specific fad diet, although this should work! Use it though to get to your goal weight and back to the starting point whereby you then stay healthy and happy. Add weight training to your daily routine too.

I would like to try it just to shift half a stone, but I know I’m being unreasonable hence why they wouldn’t give it to me. But you, no you’re not being unreasonable with 2 stone to lose to get back into the healthy weight zone.

YABU

If you want to lose weight eat less and exercise more

You forgot to add ‘it’s not rocket science’. 🙄

Because if it really was that easy, everyone would do it.
