To have called this man a....

FUCKING COCKWOMBLE!
Just got back from the supermarket. Important context (I think) - it is already 30° here.
As I was walking across the carpark I saw a woman getting out of her car and I thought to myself , "wow , she is about seventeen months pregnant, that must be miserable in this heat". Just as she we're shutting her car door a man came striding over clearly agitated and started laying into her about parking in a parent and child spot. She was flustered and sort of half apologised, explaining that she needed a bit of extra room and really appreciated not being miles away from the front door.
The man didn't stop having a go and said something along the lines of "it's a parent and child spot, not a lazy and massive spot".
I saw red!
The poor woman looked like she was about to cry (don't blane her) and started mumbling apolgies again, which is when I said, "absolutely do NOT apologise!" and turned to him and "have you really got nothing better to do you fucking cockwomble" (my favourite swear, honestly).
He at least had the good grace to shut the fuck up and walk away.
The woman said thanks and we had a little chat about the miseries of being heavily pregnant in hot weather.
Inside I ran into a friend and told her about the situ and she said that she wouldn't have said anything, not her circus etc.
Was I being unreasonable to step in and call the man what he was definitely being??

Gosh you seem very excited about it, even down to the clickbait title.

However, I'm sure she appreciated the support whatever the language.

snarky

SunnyRedSnail · 21/06/2026 13:10

@FlayOtters I voted YABU because as much as I love the insult cockwomble, it was not sufficient in this scenario.

A cockwomble is more a bumbling useless person. This guy was an arrogant nasty dick. "C U Next Tuesday" would have been more appropriate.

ginasevern · 21/06/2026 13:15

So I assume from the "lazy and massive" comment he just thought she was fat. I think I'd have rubbed his thick, cunty nose in the fact that she was heavily pregnant and asked if he usually gets off on abusing pregnant women. Otherwise well done OP.

FlayOtters · 21/06/2026 14:48

ha ok apologies if the word "cockwomble" is not up to standard. I do also love "cunt" but didn't feel he was worth it l!
And no i haven't seen this particular situation on here before so apologies if it's a repeat of another person's AIBU!

I remember having to get in the passenger side and crawl into the driver's seat (over a gear stick etc) when pregnant, because I was in a 'normal' space and someone had parked too close to my drivers' door.

Absolutely miserable, and yes P&C spaces should be used for this if the car park hasn't allowed enough space. That was a notoriously bad supermarket car park though where you could get stuck in certain corners if longer cars parked next to you.

YABU.

Cockwomble is a twee, childish proto-swear word.

You should have called him a cunt.

I’d have called him a cunt aswell.

however op you did the right thing. Parent and child spaces are also for heavily pregnant women

Zov · 21/06/2026 16:52

A few people are doubting your story @FlayOtters but I believe you, because it's exactly what I would have done. Horrible bastard creature he sounds. 😠How brave of him to lay into a heavily pregnant woman! 🙄

I bet the first thing he did when he got home was google 'cockwomble! '😆

I disagree with @Fridgemanageress that 99% of people would have done what you did. More like 15% of people. I reckon that most would have pretended they didn't see or hear anything

Haha yes!

I don't think it actually exists outside of MN. OP probably perplexed him into walking away.

Good sentiments though!

Good for you OP.

I used to work as a dominatrix on a chat line so I am capable of some extreme verbal violence. Ive seen the surprise bordering in fear in men's eyes when I went for them. Inevitably they walked off with their tail between their legs. I would have enjoyed cutting him down to size in my younger days. I can be a bitch.

Oh! Would you do a AMA on your former job?

Well done you, he needed to be told. I think you were far nicer to him than i would have been.

BillieWiper · 21/06/2026 17:40

I don't get 'cockwomble'. I've only ever heard it on here. In real life I think I'd just call him a twat!

I hear it a lot on fb reels. It's a popular insult with Australians.

SerendipityCat · 21/06/2026 17:46

Well done OP, though I also have to be honest and say that "Cockwomble" isn't my favourite. The less elaborate "Cockhead" or "Knobhead" would have been better, I feel. My own favourite "Oi, twat!" would also have served, and could have been expanded into "Oi, you ignorant fucking twat!" if you wanted to bring out the big guns.

nomas · 21/06/2026 18:13

I’m glad for once a MNer actually spoke up instead of saying ‘I’m not confrontational’. How serendipitous that your friend was there then to hear the tale.

WeatherOrNothing · 21/06/2026 18:55

You were right to stand up for her but you sound like an idiot for using that word, it’s not the flex you think it is.

PrincessofWills · 21/06/2026 18:58

Well done Op.

PoliteRoseJoker · 21/06/2026 19:05

Something similar happened to me when I was heavily pregnant. It was lashing with rain and I parked in a parent and child space. As I was loading my shopping into the boot, a woman said to me that I shouldn’t be parked there. I turned around and pointed my huge belly at her and said I am a parent and I’m carrying a child around with me all the fucking time. She slinked off. 😂

MrsBucketHat · 21/06/2026 19:10

The p&c parking at my local supermarket is signposted as being for those with under-12s and expectant mothers, which I think is a great idea. Doesn’t stop entitled tosspots using it though….

I can't describe to what extent I do not think it's a flex 😂
Think the heat is also getting to a few people on here today!
