I'd like to think I'm pretty unshockable particularly when it comes to Reform but Jesus Christ.

From what I can see, she's saying a football team is not responsible for DV following a football match. The perpetrator is to blame.

I can't see a problem with this and it is true, DV does increase after a win/lose match

So, unless I have completely misinterpreted her comment, what is the problem?

I think that’s the opposite of what she’s saying. Even ignoring the fact that DC increases when they win, telling them to keep winning because DV incidence increases when they lose very much puts the onus on them and places no responsibility on the perpetrators.

Sarah Pochin is a bit of an idiot. Maybe she thought she was being funny.

NameChangeScot · 18/06/2026 17:35

If DV goes up whether win or lose, the we should just be banning football. No, we should be holding those poor excuses for men to account.

A not insignificant number of reform members have DA convictions.

TigTails · 18/06/2026 17:35

YABU to be shocked
YANBU to be appalled!

I’m not shocked, this is reform we are m talking about! ,

ilovesooty · 18/06/2026 17:43

She's a disgrace. Her majority is single figures. I still feel bitter towards someone I know who did her part to facilitate Pochin's election victory by declining to vote for the Labour candidate because her clothes looked rather cheap and her speech was a bit common. Pochin is utterly unfit for office.

She’s a massive liability in general. I reckon her time is short. Farage is a dick but he isn’t stupid enough to keep her on, this isn’t the first time she has embarrassed herself. She was bollocked in the HofC the other day and she is getting destroyed over this stupid video.

Yeah, spot off.

She’s saying that when England loose, men batter their wives, so England had better keep on winning.

What sort of message does that send to the gammony flag shaggers? When England loose, we all expect that wives will get a back hander.

She is a disgrace.

Yes and she’s treating DV like some kind of joke.
Hilarious.
Not

MyLimeGuide · 18/06/2026 18:11

Yeah that's a mental thing to say. Unbelievable that there are so many abusive tossers out there that turn something that should bring everyone together into an excuse to abuse their partners. Sickening.

What did she get bollocked for?

I’m looking forward to her response trying to worm her way of of this one. I think nothing can shock me anymore then someone does something like this, FFS.

Basically for breaking protocol. Pollard gave her a dressing down. This isn’t the first time she has had issues (she also complained about black people and Asian people in adverts):

This is true. I work for a domestic abuse charity. We have a multi-agency meeting (MARAC) for 2 hours every morning which involves the police, social services and other organisations. We set up a second MARAC specifically during this World Cup because complaints of DA rise dramatically during all Mens football tournaments.

Piggywaspushed · 18/06/2026 18:20

We know it's true. That isn't the point. She is making light of it.

That aside, I bet the England football team aren't comfortable with her insinuation that it will be their faults if men attack women if the match is lost.

This.

She's basically saying the poor football fans can't help getting angry when they lose, and take it out on the missus. So their team better win, or else the womenfolk are in for it. Puts the onus entirely on the performance of the team, and not on the perpetrators of abuse.

LlynTegid · 18/06/2026 19:11

It's Reform. It's awful. I'm not shocked though, the kind of remarks they made are so common amongst their candidates and those elected to office.

YoBetty · 18/06/2026 19:34

That woman only opens her mouth to change feet.
