To retrain as Hypnotherapist

I am an Accountant and have worked for 30 years as Finance Manager or Financial Controller. My job pays well, it is relaxed and people nice. But I am bored to pieces; job is a bit quiet, I don’t interact with people much, but I also lost the mojo for accountancy.

DH will retire in 4 years, I am 52, I want to continue working part time but with more flexibility.

I am grateful I have a job, flexibility and can help with bills, 2 kids: 19 and 15. Oldest one off to university in September and youngest not sure they want to go to university.

Happy to answer any questions 😁

Have you had hypnotherapy before, a part time college course in counselling skills is a good start

Could be very interesting but it could be very hard to make much, or any, money especially at first. The training is expensive too.

The training is not always expensive.

There's a very active public FB group simply called "Hypnotherapy" with lots of information, discussions and other stuff.

Thank you. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Where do I study? How long for? How much? Is it hard? Any self learning courses out there to start with?

How long have you been a hypnotherapist? Do you enjoy it? Make a leaving out of it?

I have time to study while keeping my current job. Then I can start working slowly, don’t need to make a lot; just want something that motivates me.

I need to find something to keep my mind occupied as I am bored to pieces

Do you enjoy working with people? Can you be impartial/unshockable and hold strong boundaries?

There are dozens of courses to choose from, and prices to match. I trained with Tim Box using his CONTROL System because there's no trance involved (whilst it's interesting to put someone to sleep, and you do learn how to do it the idea of doing and saying the same thing day in, day out didn't appeal to me).

Yes, I love it and yes, you can make a living out of it but it takes time. Like anything the more effort you put in the quicker you will see results.

My original journey started with Kain Ramsay's CBT practitioner course on Udemy before I went onto to do Centre of Excellence courses. Kain's courses are by far the best self study courses (although I didn't enjoy his hypnosis training).
