Evening all, I am absolutely fuming tonight. Sorry need ti come here and just vent! DD has finally finished all her GCSE exams and today was her official leavers day. They had a year 11 goodbye celebration assembly and did a pie the teachers on the sports field. All very nice. She then went off into town with a big group of friends for a McDs. I cannot believe it though. She has just walked through the door and her school shirt is totally destroyed. Beyond saving. All her friends have scrawled their names over every inch of it and she days everyone has done this and this is bad enough but kids are kids ay the end of the day. The maddening part is this... the TEACHERS, yes the teachers!! Have also scribbled everywhere! In big black marker pen which will never come out no matter how much I stain remover it. Even her HEAD TEACHER has done it!! I am totally in shock that staff members think it is appropriate to graffiti and essentially commit criminal damage to my child's clothing! It was an expensive Banner brand shirt and was practically new and the teachers would have been able to see this! There was no warning they would be drawing all over the students clothes and I did not consent and would have sent in a scruffy old one had I been warned. I was going to pass on DDs perfectly good uniform to my sister for her kids as she really struggles for money and I promised her these school shirts. But now the teachers have vandalised it and I cannot get the stains out it will only be good for the dustbin. When I just told my sister what happened she said there is no way school staff would even think to do this and that the kids have written the teachers names instead. That is how shocked we all are! I will be straight on the phone tomorrow morning but is there anything I can do about this damage as far as replacement from the school goes? Where do I stand legally. I know its only one shirt at the end of the day and a few pounds but this cannot be right what has happened here? I can't be the only one feeling a little miffed to say the least? Or is this the norm in schools , has anyone else experienced this?!!
