Any other primary care staff feeling exhausted and burnt out?

Hi!

bit of a random post but just thought I’d ask on here to see if anyone else is in the same boat

are there any other healthcare workers on here who are just feeling absolutely exhausted and burnt out? Especially primary care or community healthcare professionals (GPs, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists etc)

im just absolutely exhausted and as much as I love the job itself, it can be so tough sometimes. Today I was called a useless bitch because of how long the referral waiting times are, I started early, worked over lunch, finished late, still have a huge amount of work to do and it all starts again next week. I love the job (although it might not sound like it, but I genuinely do) but sometimes it can be so demotivating how you’re always seen as the bad guy for things outside of your control (eg no appointments left, hospital waiting times, cost of private care etc) and it honestly feels like fighting a losing battle sometimes

i know nobody on here can change anything and im not looking for help or to fix it, I guess I just wondered if there were any other HCPs on here in the same boat and feeling a bit fed up of it all? x

It's not better in secondary care and I work in both. It does make you feel burnt out

Practice nurse. Yes. Have worked in primary care over thirty years and it has never been this bad. Patients attend for one thing and bring with them a list of problems, queries, concerns, demands etc which they have usually already been referred for. I think they see someone in uniform and just offload. The demand is unsustainable. So so many very frail, elderly people with complex multiple co morbidities and poor quality of life we treat and treat and treat. So much time. So much money!
Retiring in six months and cannot wait!
