AIBU to worry about nipple discharge months after stopping breastfeeding?

I’ve noticed some milky/clear discharge occasionally leaking from my left nipple.
For context I gave birth 6.5 months ago and combi fed for about 6 weeks. Officially stopped breastfeeding around 5 months ago (early Jan). The left breast was always the more productive breast and was the same with my first child.

I never actually see the fluid that leaks, I get a cold sensation occasionally then brush my hand over my nipple and it’s the smallest amount. Today I noticed a tiny bit in my bra and when I squeeze it looks exactly like breast milk to me, that off white colour mixed with a more dense milk colour.

Am worrying more as it does it spontaneously at least once a day, no more than what feels like a drop. I have HA and know a trip to the drs is probably needed but know what will follow is potentially being referred on the 2WW which will send me into a spiral.

Anyone else had something similar?

I had something similar, stopped breastfeeding and six months later if I wore a top without a bra I could see a small amount of milk leaking through.

I saw my GP and then I saw an endocrinologist who said it could be two things:

  • hormones not settled yet
  • prolactinoma

It turned out I had a prolactinoma and had to go on medication as my prolactin was very very high. It sounded scary but the medication sorted out my prolactin levels in two weeks. Although I’m still on it as it’s a long term medication.

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask if yours was from 1 breast or both?

sorry, sent that before I’d finished. Very glad yours was dealt with and was nothing too sinister. I hope you’re well.
