What do you give your 10/11 year old for breakfast?

I am really struggling to find healthy breakfast options for my 10 and a half year old daughter.
I usually give 2 pan au chocolate or chocolate crepe or 3 scotch pancakes with margarine or cereal or 2 slices of toast with chocolate spread or peanut butter or jam.

She is over weight and we have started consciously giving healthy home cooked dinner which includes meat or fish and vegetables and of course have not mentioned anything to her but breakfast seems to be our downfall, she likes porridge in the winter but not in the summer.

Also packed lunch tends to be a generic sandwich, yogurt, piece of fruit and crisps.

My kids only have a ‘treat’ breakfast at weekends things like pain au chocolates or scotch pancakes not sure I’d be giving them during the week! They usually have a mix of things like beans/egg on toast, fruit salad with yoghurt or plain old toast if we are in a rush!

What about the Weetabix ‘cheesecake’ type things, especially in the little jars, it might be seem a bit fancy and new. Use the proper Fage type full fat Greek yoghurt and top with bananas and a drizzle of honey. And it’s ok to eat non Breakfast food at breakfast, food is food whatever time of day it is. My DD loved Swedish Meatballs and sometimes had them with sliced hard boiled eggs or with beans on toast.

Only on MN are we having avocado, eggs, bacon for breakfast, pancakes (assuming they are being made and not ready bought)

Summer was cereal with bananas after or toast.

Weekends they could have fry up, yogurt and chopped fruit, pancakes etc.

Winter was normally ready brek and then progressed to porridge oats with honey or nutella which they still eat now as later teens.

I know, mine leave the house at 7.20am and there’s no way on earth any of us are smashing avocados or scrambling eggs before that 😭

It was the suggestion of kedgeree that really got me 😆

Maybe consider things that are not traditional ‘ breakfast’ foods? My dc like some cheese, ham and fruit for breakfast.
