Baby regressing?

ftmmom25 · Today 18:07

Im worried my almost 12 month old is regressing in her skills. She used to clap multiple times a day, sometimes on command or in imitation of us but here recently she wont do it hardly at all. She also used to wave on command and now wont either. She just randomly waves her hand throughout the day, i dont think directed at anything. I just overall am worried she is going backwards instead of forwards. She also isnt babbling and hasnt been for over a month. She has started showing me toys more sometimes but not consistently. Should i be worried?

Has she developed other skills during this time? Sometimes some skills can take a back seat while they develop others. For example, if she is practicing trying words, then babbling might decrease and if she is focussed on learning to pull up or walk, she might not bother with clapping or waving.

She is pulling up/cruising, maybe trying to point but its hard to tell. I think her joint attention is starting to get a little better too

Maybe she is bored of being expected to perform on demand all the time?

Ok, your update sounds like she is focussed on other things. I suppose clapping and waving becomes boring once you have mastered them.
Just keep an eye for now, but don't worry too much.

I think it’s far too early to be worrying about something like autism, which I presume is what you’re doing. Babies often stop ‘performing’ at this age as they’ve mastered the clapping and waving and they’re focussing on other things.

You literally posted about this yesterday.

A baby’s ‘learning’ is not linear
as they grow other skills take over from previous skills then they learn to do things together like walk and talk
try not to obsess over her ‘skills’ lost or learnt and enjoy being a mum

If you have concerns 100% see your GP and Health Visitor if you’re in the UK

Take some videos every week. So you can see if there is progress or not.
If concerned see gp or health visitor .

Highly unlikely your child has the Benjamin Button disorder.
