AIBU to be annoyed after agreeing a house offer and hearing nothing?

Yesterday I Put my offer in for a house they came back with a counter offer and said they will wait for me to sell. I agreed. This was COP yesterday. I called up this morning asking for confirmation and I have not heard a thing. EA said she can’t get hold of vendors and she’s not ignoring me and she’s also not taking any viewings for the house on. Still haven’t heard have been on high alert all day. AIBU to be fuming?

But the EA can’t get hold of the vendors, annoying for you but what else can they do?

Questi3nn · Yesterday 16:39

Brace yourself....conveyancing process takes a long time so if your getting frustrated now having waited 1 day for an update your not going to enjoy the next few months at all...

Vendors may be working. May be caring for family member. May even have something else more important or even just considering their options...

I mean it’s literally been a matter of hours. They are probably working. Lots of people have jobs where they can’t be on their phone all day. Or they are driving or have an emergency or simply need to run the numbers on your offer.

In this situation, no news is good news. If it was a firm no, they’d come back quite quickly. My guess is they need to work out if your offer will work for them. The EA definitely shouldn’t be telling you they aren’t taking more viewings though! They don’t work for you. They work for the client who is paying them and their job is to sell the property.

I’d say it’s quite normal though to take at least 24 hours to hear a response on an offer. We had one that had to go through a church committee as was a church property and we had to wait til the next committee meeting in 3 weeks!

Chill. It took 11 months of phone calls and chasing from our offer being accepted to completion. It can be a very slow process.

Rachelshair · Yesterday 16:45

I think fuming is a bit much at this stage, it's not been 24 hours yet. Hopefully you'll hear soon.

I understand it takes time this isn’t the issue. I have moved before When I offered £££ I had a response within half an hour. The counter offer was ‘we want £££ and we will take it off the market and wait for yours to sell’ (mine) I agreed to this. Why would they counter this to then go silent. I’m very aware it can take months and months but a simple nod of the head doesn’t take all day.

They haven’t gone silent. Your expectations re time frames are unrealistic.

Blueuggboots · Yesterday 17:05

What are you expecting?

JustGiveMeReason · Yesterday 18:18

YAB ridiculous.

They haven't "gone silent", they just haven't been available today.
Pps have given some examples, but there are 101 reasons why people aren't sitting there with a phone in their hand all day.

Backedoffhackedoff · Yesterday 18:19

Maybe they’re reflecting on it

Shatteredallthetimelately · Yesterday 18:21

You offered a price they came back with a counter offer which you accepted. No more needs to be said just yet.

Best put your time into getting people through the door and selling your property incase they change their minds.

Hollowvoice · Yesterday 18:40

They made an offer and you accepted, nothing else required?
If they'd accepted your first offer would you be expecting to confirm to them within 24 hours?
Nothing can happen until you still your property so focus on that.

What are you expecting? You've agreed to their suggestion so... all done. Terms agreed. It's not been that long. Chill.

Hope you're as instantly responsive as you want the seller to be.

My last buyer whinged like you about us being "unresponsive" (<24h), then a week later had done nothing themselves (no mortgage confirmed, solicitor not instructed). I wasn't in a hurry but it rubbed me the wrong way after they'd chivvied us so quickly.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · Yesterday 18:44

If you haven't sold your house, your focusing on the wrong thing. I wouldn't stop viewings for someone who hasn't sold their house

I would imagine she’s waiting for them
to come back and confirm the deal is on.
