What have your kids eaten today?

I have 2 kids age 3 and 6 and I often have wobbles over whether I’m feeding them enough or the right things…

So a non shaming thread where I can see what ‘average’ looks like would be helpful!

I’ll start because it’s annoying when OP doesn’t do that:

Breakfast - bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese (NOT a normal breakfast, it was about to go off! They both had 1 half of the bagel as the top had ‘yucky seeds on’)

Snack - Apple, handful of crackers

Lunch - Bowl of pasta from last night dinner with a jar sauce, carrot and crumbly cheese

Snacks - melon, chocolate rice cakes (2 each)

Dinner will be chicken curry with rice.

They still seem to act like I’m starving them!

Holy moly, how can people afford teenage boys!!

Its the cereal consumption that amazes me. I also grow a lot of food, strawberries, gooseberries, black berries, raspberries, blueberries, rhubarb, apples, pears, cherries, plums and loads of veg. We have a few grape vines, but only get a few bunches per per and they can be a bit sour. It really helps.

Girasoli · 28/05/2026 20:13

DS 10 and DS6. On holiday atm.

Breakfast: yoghurt and fruit
After hiking: chocolate pastry from local bakery, DS6 had a few bites but didn't like it.
Lunch: Big sausage roll from the bakery, DS6 also had some wotsits.
After swimming snack: Apple
Dinner: fish and chips on the beach, DS10 had an icecream, DS6 had a couple of bites of icecream and then swapped for half my ring donut instead (DH got the icecream instead)

They also both had a couple of pieces of fudge from a souvenir shop.

7 yo DD - fussy eater & has 2 uncomfortable wobbly front teeth at the mo which is affecting her diet further.

Not ‘average’ food days this week as it’s half term & 28 degree heat. She will only occasionally eat veg but usually has cucumber or pepper in sandwiches for packed school lunch & more fruit than today!

B: banana soreen bar, 2 strawberries, croissant with choc - hazelnut spread & tropical yoghurt drink

L: Minion plain pasta shapes with tomato ketchup (won’t eat homemade pasta sauce) and grated cheese, Cadbury’s mint chocolate ice cream

Snacks: popcorn, water, lemon Greek yoghurt, Ritz cheese cracker

ThreeStripeQueen · 28/05/2026 20:28

the other had a chilli chicken wrap and a mocha,
Dinner- peach and burrata salad with pistachios

I think we have similar 7 year olds! 😅

Seems so! Mine ate an entire tub of popcorn at the cinema yesterday and had pasta for tea. But very strictly only penne with tomato puree and grated cheese. But the cheese and the pasta must be separate.

Never pursued it but he'd definitely meet the criteria for a diagnosis of ARFID!

TeenLifeMum · 28/05/2026 20:29

Been out for the day so took a packed lunch. 10 and 8 year old:

Breakfast - both had shreddies
Snack - 10 Yr old had a packet of belvita breakfast biscuits
Lunch- 8 year old - tuna sandwich, wotsits, apple, banana, ginger nut biscuit.
10 Yr old - cheese and carrot sandwich, hula hoops, apple, banana, ginger nut biscuit.
Snack - mango sorbet
Dinner- should've been homemade chicken, veg and lentil curry with rice but we were back late so wanted something quick and easy. Frozen battered cod (8 year old), chicken Kiev (10 year old), both with new potatoes, broccoli, corn on the cob, choc biscuit for dessert.
8 year old was then hungry and had a slice of bread with peanut butter before bed

Leapintothelightning · 28/05/2026 21:23

Also have 6 and 3 year olds.

breakfast - cereal and milk
snack - 6yo had a barney bear (healthy I know!), 3yo was at nursery and didn’t tell me a straight answer on whether she ate snack or not
lunch - 6yo had a school dinner (quorn dog… but with salad she was insistent on telling me!)
3yo had a packed lunch (ham sandwich, grapes, strawberries and a packet of hula hoops)
snack - banana
tea - tomato pasta, followed by a yoghurt
“supper” - apple

So my fussy children have eaten a decent amount… taking it as a win

Putmedownfor5shagger · 28/05/2026 21:27

Withthe2Ls · 28/05/2026 21:29

Honestly I fear for the teenage years because my 4 year old and 7 month old eat me out of house and home.

breakfast
4 year old: 2 homemade banana pancakes, 2 bowl or cornflakes, toast and butter
7 month old: ready brek with blueberries and 1 banana pancake

lunch
leftover pasta bolognaise for both. 4 year old also ate mine and I had to make something else 🙃. Ice cream sandwhich after for the 4 year old.

snack
7 month old: melty stick
4 year old: 6 chocolate covered rice cakes, grapes, strawberries, raspberries and 2 bananas

dinner
lentil Dahl and Nan bread for both

Supper
4 year old: 3 crackers and butter, a whole orange, chocolate buttons, blueberries and 2 glasses of milk.

We call time on food and hour before bed and he tells us he is hungry at least 10 times during that hour.

7 month old also still breastfeeds 3-4 times a day.

I have spoke to multiple health professionals about the fact my 4 year old can’t be filled, they just laugh at me because he’s so thin. To be fair he sleeps all night so he can’t actually be that hungry still.

Overthebow · 28/05/2026 21:29

5 year old dd (ds in nursery so gets his meals there).
Breakfast - porridge with raspberries
Lunch - smoked salmon sandwiches with cucumber sticks followed by yoghurt and mango slices
Dinner - Noodle stir fry with stir fry veg and chicken, followed by jelly
Snacks - ice lolly, strawberry and banana smoothie (homemade), melon, bread sticks

Fairly typical menu for us when it’s not a school day.

Comealongtubs · 28/05/2026 21:31

11 and 9 year old, vegetarian. We are on holiday and walking/swimming all day so more treats than usual.

Breakfast- fried mushroom, courgette, onion and pepper in olive oil with salt and pepper. Scrambled egg. Hash brown. Baked beans Half a piece of white bread toast and half a piece of wholemeal toast (as requested) 9 year old just ate the fried veg and some beans, refused everything else even toast, looked at eggs as if they were literal excrement.

Picnic Lunch- 11 year old didn't want a sandwich. Ate leftover butternut squash, canellini bean, tomato, red onion, coriander salad. Piece of cherry cake. Crisps. Grapes. Extra mini tomatoes. 9 year old didn't eat the salad but had a coleslaw and lettuce sandwich instead. Yes, just coleslaw and lettuce. On crap white bread.

Snacks ice cream. 2 Oreos. Banana for 11 year old, apple for 9 year old. 9 year old also didn't eat the cone on the ice cream (nice waffle cone too crunchy apparently)

Dinner- chick pea vegetable stew. Rice. Full fat Greek yoghurt. 9 year old refused rice.

Cocoa and 2 Oreos for pudding.

Older kid isn't fussy, is slim and runs around all day/does a lot of sport but we don't usually have this much sugar!! Younger seems to hate most carbs apart from mashed potato, chips or flatbread, is skinny as a rake and very tall, especially hates toast and calls it "hard bread"
