Please tell me how to lose two stone (PCOS)

Just that really. At my wits end. Get so much conflicting advice. A friend told me I have to cut out all highly carby food. I saw online to cut dairy but A2 dairy is less inflammatory so that’s fine. I’ve always been of the opinion that cutting out entire food groups is extreme.

It’s not a ridiculous amount to lose. But I am just at a complete loss. Lost next to nothing despite trying to

Any advice would be immensely appreciated.

You have to calculate your calories, per day, and drop 500 off of that for at least a month. See what, if anything you lose, and stay where you are if you're losing and drop further if not.

Crayay · 25/05/2026 16:26

I have supposedly been eating to a deficit (calculated by chat gpt) but had absolutely no success

okay seems like I need to drop further. Currently eating 1800. I do light exercise daily.

Have you considered the fat jabs? X

That's definitely too much. I have PCOS and didn't start losing weight until I dropped to 1300 calories a day and I'm 5 ft 7 and very active.

PCOS reduces your BMR so we have to eat less than other people to lose or maintain weight.

Id personally rather not. I’ve had issues associated with glp1s in the past. I’m a 12/14. Seems a bit unnecessary to resort to medication. I know I have been a bit mindless when eating these past few years. Hopefully a few lifestyle changes will do the trick

if she's high weight and tall and young it isn't necessary too much.
OP how tall and heavy are you and what's your age? Don't use chatgtp

I’m only 5 ft 4

I’ve PCOS and the only way I’ve been able to lose weight is with WLI.

I need to eat less than 1200 calories to lose weight. 1000 to properly effective. I’m 5ft 7

You are well under the average size then. Why do you think you need to lose so much weight?

I am tall and young, I am 5ft 7 and 30! I work on my feet all day and ride horses twice a week! If she's not losing weight on 1800 calories it's too much. It's that simple.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 25/05/2026 16:34

Have you tried Metformin? Its prescribed for PCOS ( As well as type 2 diabetes)

have you done 1800 consistently for a month? I would discount exercise for weight loss. It's great for bone health, heart health and other things but red herring for weight loss.

I just want to be back where I was comfortable. Ie size 8. Pre kids.

Then sadly you'll need even less than 1300 to lose probably. Even with eating 1300 calories a day I've still plateaued at a stone overweight. It's shit having PCOS!

I did but I didn’t get on with it due to nausea

Try fasting.

Bushmillsbabe · 25/05/2026 16:36

Look up 'low GI' diet, I have pcos and it helped me, i went from a size 20 to a 14-16. It's basically reducing processed sugar, and if do have, have with a meal to avoid sugar spikes.

Adjusting balance of meals so more protein and less carbs, especially in evening - my evening meals were meat/fish with veg/salad, no rice/potato/pasta. Slow release carbs- wholemeal bread and pasta rather than white.

Heatwave26 · 25/05/2026 16:33

I am a Size 12 and I'm a stone overweight. Size 12/14 at 5 ft 4 is definitely overweight.

Average size and healthy weight range are two different things.

SandwichSuperstar · 25/05/2026 16:37

Do you eat breakfast?

Many slim people (myself included) tend not to, although I appreciate some people wake up hungry.

But if you don't really wake up hungry and just eat it out of habit, it might be an idea to skip it.

base metabolic ratio is based on your age, height and weight. The heavier your all, more bmr. The taller your are, more bmr, the younger your all, more bmr. I agree if she's on 1800 calorie and not losing weight, it is too much, but she seems to be using chatgtp and probably miscalculating lots. That's my assumption based on her few post. I'm not saying she has to eat 1800 calories, but she seems clueless. And when I said tall, I meant men's height tall.

PauliesWalnuts · 25/05/2026 16:38

Agree - it IS shit having PCOS. I am trying to do a mix of exercise and dieting now the weather is improving. My endocrinologist referred me to a nutritionist who told me that the best diet is the Mediterranean diet. Low GI carbs, plenty of fruit and veg, oily fish, not much red meat. It’s very slow going but I did have a body composition test last week which indicated that although I haven’t lost much weight I have lost a decent amount of body fat, so something is happening.

Tuxedomaddness · 25/05/2026 16:39

It's so easy if you low carb. I've lost 1 stone in 6 weeks by cutting all carbs apart from brown rice (2 tbsp).
I do 30 mins on ex bike daily and a 45 min walk. Swim 5 x a week.
I'm 5ft 2 and starr weight was 10st 3..
Want to lose 1 more stone.
YOU DO NOT NEED CHEMICAL INJECTIONS.
I aim for 1200 cals. All meat, fish ,eggs. Full fat mayo. veg and salad.

I do. But I wake up most days not feeling hungry. So I could probably integrate more of an intermittent fasting approach

I move all day at work (vet). I walk to work etc. Chat gpt increased my calories when I inputted my non-exercise activity. Plus I try to jog everyday on the treadmill.
