Okay so I know im being a total loser so dont hold back! Ive been with my DH 5 years and when we met I used to run..he hated it...said it wasnt for him. After 2 years of us being together he started running with me..which i loved and we even did some organised runs together however...I seem to take forever to bounce back from anything..nights out, illness, anything. He could go 6 months without leaving thr sofa and suddenly decide to go out for a run and bash out a 10k no problem. My god its so irritating! Anyway im menopausal so I wake up everyday all anxious and by the evening I've got headache or feel like poo! Hes now doing half marathons and im going along as the bag holder and watching all the runners feeling all the vibe and feeling so crappy and useless and let down by my body and migraines. Im so proud of him and I cheer him on so loud but basically ladies....IM JEALOUS!! please just reply RUN RUN RUN!! GET THOSE BASTARD TRAINERS ON AND RUN YOUR TITS OFF....PLEASE. THANKYOU

Tomorrow morning, nice and early, before it’s ridiculously hot, you’re going to get up, put on your running gear and trainers, and you’re going to run run run!!

SaltShark · 24/05/2026 15:59

Fake it till you make it.

I suffer with migraines so i feel your pain.

But i wish i was you op able to go out in the sun able to run just do things outside would me nice.
But i have list of allergies and a skin problem that i wont get relief from untill late autumn and winter, my favorite time of the year because i feel somewhat normal.

I`d love to have your anxiety than living with what i have now.

So get get you bastard arse out the door and enjoy life, because life can change you at any monent.
so dont miss a thing while you can still do them dont put off something today you cant do tomorrow.
Dont be jeoulse of people try to join them.

Dont take things or life for granted.

There’s a heartbreaking thread on here I’ve just read about a mum creating photo and memory books for her young children and husband to remember her by and draw comfort from as she’s had a very poor prognosis. There by the grace of god goes all of us, at any moment. So… you are going to go out tomorrow, get your trainers on and RUN. You are going to move your vital and loved body, feel your beating heart and revel in the glory that you are alive and you GET to do this. I believe in you ❤️

HobGobblynne · 24/05/2026 17:07

I always put off running when I’ve had a break because I know I’m going to be slow and will get annoyed at myself. However I’m always able to complete at least 5k even with weeks/months off and always surprise myself with how quickly I get back into it - so RUN RUN RUN. Time/pace/distance doesn’t matter, anything is better than nothing and I have no doubt you’ll surprise yourself with what you manage!

TheHateIsNotGood · 24/05/2026 17:15

I am not going to suggest you RUN but I do suggest that you find an alternative physical activity that you can also get good at. So good that you won't have the spare time to be DP's cheer leader and bagholder.

And, you'll be doing your joints a great big favour, saving your body for a lifetime of suppleness.

Gingerwarthog · 24/05/2026 20:37

Don’t overthink it. Lay your kit out ready - set your alarm and get out and go 5k tomorrow. Don’t be put off by DH pace - men are usually faster. Aim for three times a week and just do it.

I am married to an ultra runner.

I was a runner before he was, but due to health condition I can no longer run like he does.

I run, sometimes, very gently on grass. For 30 second at a time (intervals with walking).

Just do what you can. And enjoy it!

Pineapplesunshine · 24/05/2026 21:17

Put your vest and shorts on before your brain can talk you out of it. Put your trainers on and go. When I find running hard, I think of it as like life, when it gets hard you just keep going, one foot in front of the other.
You’ll be so glad you did it x
