Hi. I’m new to mums net, so hello!!!

i have started slimming world, since having my baby, I’m the biggest I’ve ever been at 11st 7, and I’m 5ft so bare in mind it makes me curvy. I was 9st5 before birth!!!

I managed to loose 3lbs in my first week, but my 2nd has come with nothing. I’m also starting couch to 5k.

i feel really deflated and want to give up, but I think I’m probably being unreasonable to myself as I tried so hard and I’ve read some people skip weeks of loss and still get to their target weight.

any support / advice. Thanks xx

Keep going and stick to it properly. Don’t cheat yourself by sneaking extra bits etc. 2 weeks is nothing - think it has taken you months/years to put the weight on - it will not come off overnight

You're giving up already ?

I wouldn't give up just yet, you will have weeks where you lose and weeks where you plateau. 3lb is quite a lot to lose in one week so if you've stayed the same the next week, it's a balance. Are you keeping a food diary? If so, you can ask your SW consultant to go over it with you and suggest some tweaks to maximise your weight loss. I would concentrate on eating lean protein and lots of vegetables at every meal - most are hardly any calories and will bulk out your meal to make you feel full. So for example, if you have an omelette for breakfast, add in tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, courgettes etc - it adds volume without adding a lot of calories and has the added bonus of being really good for you!

You don't say how old baby is but remember that your body takes a while to recover from the birth and your hormones are probably still a bit haywire! Be kind to yourself and try and think long term rather than how much you've lost or not in one week. It's a marathon, not a sprint! Any exercise you can fit in, like a good walk each day or a 15/20 minute light weights workout will make you feel good and help with the weight loss. Keep going, you will get there 💐

Definitely stick with it - 2 weeks isn't long enough to try it out. I found it took me a while to really get to grips with the 'food optimising' part - how to keep meals tasty whilst substituting certain calorific 'high SWIP' bits for 'free' choices, and how to bulk out with fruit or veg to make meals more filling. I've found it helps to have a few staple 'go tos' with no or very low SWIPs so you don't have to do too much thinking, and gradually expand your repertoire from there.
Portion size is another biggie as whilst rice, pasta, potatoes etc are free, you really need to fill yourself up with enough 'speed free foods' and protein so you don't end up over-doing it on carbs (at least in my experience!). Finally, you've got to have some treats to keep it all bearable - I save mine to the end of the day as a reward (rather than my pre-slimming world pattern of scoffing things during the day and promising myself I'd have a light dinner... and then not having a light dinner...).

Obviously not for everyone - nothing is - but I have found it pretty life-changing. I still eat stuff I like (mostly) but don't 'waste' SWIPs on mindless or low-quality things so much.

Good luck and good on you for everything you're trying - I hope you don't put too much pressure on yourself either because as someone else has already said, physical recovery takes a while and you have to have some self-compassion in all this!
