To wonder why a bloke shouting from a van is somehow praise worthy ?

I’ve seen a few people online proclaiming the bloke who shouted at Rachel Reeves from a van as some sort of folk hero.

Whatever I think about Rachel Reeves, are we now stooping so low that a bloke shouting at a woman incoherently and aggressively from a van is some kind of role model?

Heckling politicians has a long history but this was just ugly.

Yobbish ignorant behaviour by White Van Man.

I'm not a fan of Rachel Reeves but totally with her on this one.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/05/2026 16:02

Clearly, he's an idiot, but equally I am not sure what she thought would happen during a gimmicky appearance by a member of a very unpopular govt.

She didn't handle it anywhere near as well as Kemi Badenoch with the antisemitic heckler at that market.

In the tiny minds of the unwashed Left, it's OK to throw milkshakes at people but verbal abuse is completely unacceptable.

Ablondiebutagoody · 21/05/2026 17:01

Heckling politicians is fine, they should be able to deal with it. If they can't, like Reeves, it's an indication that they are robotic party line bullshitters rather than coming from any kind of deeply held conviction.

I agree with what John McDonnell said (about Tories/Lib Dems). He wanted to create a situation where no Conservative MP or Coalition Minister could "show their face anywhere in public" without being challenged by direct action ✊️

Farage needs £5 million for security apparently but thinks this man needs to be bought a pint? Throwing milkshakes at him is terrible but shouting abuse ok? I don't think so. A man with more integrity would appreciate that it's all part of the same problem. But of course we know he has little of that.

By the way, most 'lefties' won't approve of the milkshake thing, and I really do hope most on the right don't approve of this either. Unfortunately it is being encouraged by people high up in political parties on the right. I absolutely think left leaning politicians shouldn't be encouraging similar towards their opposition politicians either.

When did Rachel Reeves throw a milkshake at someone?!

Because amongst a certain group they have a belief that is peak humour. That's their highest aspiration, inchohent cowardly heckling. Marvellous. Somebody somewhere probably loves him

rwalker · 21/05/2026 17:08

I think it’s more the point she was on the receiving end first hand of how unhappy a lot of people are with them

they seem oblivious to the fact people have no confidence and they think there doing a good job

mumofoneAloneandwell · 21/05/2026 17:09

Seen it and seen farage wanting to buy him a drink

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I dont even despair anymore, ive got nothing left

Do they think there [sic] doing a good job? Or are they just saying the same as any politician, from any party, would?

hay5689 · 21/05/2026 17:16

She’s not the first politician to be shouted at by a member of the public who’s clearly angry and dissatisfied by the government and she won’t be the last.

Both are unacceptable.
Your comment shows how tiny your mind is. You have nothing constructive to add so come up with some silly little attack about the left being unwashed and thinking it's okay to throw milkshakes on people.

Of course throwing milk shakes, or eggs,or whatever, at politicians isn't acceptable. But neither is verbally abusing someone in the street.

Your comment is a cheap jibe. Like the White Van Man you aren't doing yourself any favours.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/05/2026 17:25

Hopefully she'll receive £5m cash in order to buy herself somewhere nice. Fair's fair and all that.

Best bit of Farage wanting to find him is that he knows nothing about the guy. He could just be an upstanding citizen who is angry about the government. He could also have unsavoury tweets or dubious affiliations. Makes you realise why Reform are so shit at vetting candidates.
