I am too embarassed to post in Facebook groups where people post their before and after photos. I never thought I'd get to this stage that I actually see some results...and I am always doubting myself. I've been doing Body coach on /off since Covid but in the past 18 months intense HIIT workout 4x week. I am happy with my progress but still not where I want to be. There is no real AIBU, other than is it realistic to expect I will tone up more at my age ( early 40s) if I continue exercising. And why are my legs still so jiggly😂 I've only lost 7 kg between two photos, I find it soooo hard to drop weight, but thankfuly I am seeing some other non scale victories😅

I think your weight loss shows most on your stomach, which now looks less rounded and more toned. My understanding is that from a health point of view that’s the best place to lose it, so that’s good news.

It’s harder to make a comparison with your thighs, because in the second photo your legs are further apart, but they do look more toned. Thighs are supposed to be jiggly though!

Referring to “at my age” when you’re only in your early 40s is very odd to me, but that’s because I’m in my 60s (and a lot fitter than I was in my 40s)!

7 kg is over a stone so is fantastic. Keep it up but maybe incorporate some weight training. I didn't see massive changes in my body until I started lifting heavy.

You look great! Well done. I’d love to look like this.

Pelaton bikes are great for toning thighs up I’ve done 4 months of spin class on our bikes in the gym head phones in and it’s like a 1-2-1 lost 4 inches of thighs and not as wobbly when I walk

You look fab!

Thighs jiggle, it's normal! Go on YT and watch some tennis players.

MegMortimer · 21/05/2026 16:02

I think you look great

ChiliFiend · 21/05/2026 22:34

Wow - that is really noticeable; I'm surprised it's only 7kgs.

As someone above said, heavy weights (build up the weight gradually) - Caroline Girvan has free videos on YouTube. Work out your macros and stay in deficit. You’ll achieve a toned and tighter look with consistency and time.

If you're doing the body coach you should be lifting weights alongside HIIT. It's been a number of years since I did it but I presume the basics are still the same. The food plans are made for 4-5 resistance+HIIT sessions per week so you'd need to up your training if you are following that also. If you aren't then perhaps look at your calories.
Of course you can get where you want to be, you're in your 40's not 80's!

It's amazing the visual change you can see when you do before and after pics! I've lost about 4 1/2st (this time around 🤣) and personally don't see it when I look in the mirror? I do obviously see it with clothes, I've gone from wearing an XL/18 to wearing M/14 and my boobs have definitely shrank! 😭 My bf also tells me I look like I've lost a lot (happy to say he's somehow still attracted to me 😁) but yeah in my head I can't see it, except for when I compare before and after photos!

Congrats 😊

I am doing weights half of the time, but not sure what is considered as 'heavy' weights. I can bench press 25 kg (12.5kg in each hand) for about 30 secs in 2-3 series. I am doing 50-60 kg deadlifts.... I am getting stronger, I guess I haven't lost as much kg as I've gained muscles?! But yes, it's only 7kg in total. Anyway I'll keep going💪🏼. Thank you everyone for commenting, it's really helpful!! I never thought I'd get here... I never believed I can do it. and yes of course 40s is still young😂
