To think emotional maturity is rarer than intelligence?

Being smart is a necessary survival skill.
"Emotional maturity" (whatever that may be), isn't.

Yes, emotional intelligence/emotional maturity/self-awareness overlap quite a lot I think. It seems unevenly distributed compared to raw intelligence/competence.

Interesting. Although I’d probably argue emotional maturity becomes very important for maintaining relationships, handling conflict, self-regulation, parenting, leadership, long-term wellbeing etc, even if raw intelligence is rewarded more directly in some environments.
